Or are you lucky enough to have your own printer?
I went to costco earlier to today and I saw that a 4x6 cost 19c and a 11x8 cost around 2 dollars.
Does seem like a good going rate?
BTW: new to board, hi all.

I don't think I'll buy a printer just yet.
I've been using my camera a lot but admitedly only for parties/get togethers.

That is an excellent price!! I've been using Shutterfly which is 39 cents a picture, unless you buy prepaid which can be lower (29 cents). They do have specials all the time where you save 20% but it still isn't as cheap as Costco. I am going to use Costco next time~ they are the cheapest I've found!

Costco not only has a great price, it is a one hour service.
I bought a Canon i560 to replace my 800s at Costco and it puts out some very clean pictures, but if I were going to print up more than 10, I would just take them in and get them done at Costco.

mpix.com, hands down
(I don't work for them or have any affiliation)
Their shipping containers are high quality and their product is awesome. Never been disappointed. To try for yourself (and I tell everyone this) just send a few 5x7 or 8x10 and see for yourself. Way better than Snap Fish. I have also used Kodak's site, previously Ofoto, and their quality is nicer than Snap Fish but not as good as MPIX. Now, I'll use Snap Fish to jam out 50 5x7s for some kids to have pics, cause they don't care. But... my stuff is on MPIX. Good luck

I use Sam's Club. 4x6 is $.17, 8x10 is $1.47, and my favorite, 20x30 is just a bit over $11.

That is a great price. Probably cheaper than I do my own. I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 that does up to 13x19 prints. The quality is wonderful on it. I also have a Kadak Easy Share dye sub. printer that does 4x6 prints for about $0.23 each.
I like the ease and convenience of doing my own at home. I should say, that none of my prints are sold. I am a family guy who does all of the family photography.

I've only ordered from one company so far and I was quite satisfied. QOOP, through flickr.
8x12 were $3.99, and I believe 4x6 were $.15. I don't remember other prices off the top of my head

MPIX if I want the best possible quality. If I need alot of 4x6's and they dont have to be perfect i use Adorama. Adorama does a better job than , Costco, Wallgreens, Walmart etc by a large margin.

I have used Costco and Adorama and I believe Costco not only had a much better price they now .13 a piece where I go but the quality was way better. Plus I download their icc profiles and have them turn off their color correction and the color is dead on every time.

I do family stuff at Costco and pick up at a local warehouse. We have two in our area that are excellent.
Paid stuff goes to www.whcc.com because they offer more options.

Do the math. Doing a 4x6 on your own printer costs around 40 cents after you factor in the ink and paper. Doing an 8x10 costs a little over a dollar. Any bigger than that and your large format printer probably evens out in price given what you probably paid for your large format printer.
I personally prefer thremal dye sublimation over ink jet based prints anyway. Given that a thermal dye print will last close to 60 years, vs. an ink based that lasts about 25, I'm quite happy having someone else print it.

Millers Lab. They are the parent company of Mpix and in my opinion much better. Better photos, better quality paper, better quality customer service, easier, faster ordering and uploading. Free 24 hour shipping. They are a bit more expensive, but when someone is paying $40+ for one print I think it should be good quality, not Walmart, Costco, or Snapfish quality.
