These are deadly sharp images. Had a look at them in the original size and you can even see the pigmentation in the skin. Pretty awesome I'd say.
I'm getting pretty excited about the fact that April is rolling around and these things start to get delivered.

She's been out in the wind too much...
Wow,. I'm diagnosing wind chapped skin on her cheeks with those images!
Amazing.

And with 24-70L zoom, too. Can't wait to put 85/1.2 on it.

Hmmmm... Those shots are just too realistic and I'm afraid they'll scare some people. I'm going to have to cancel my order.
NOT! WOW! Freaking awesome! Look at the individual strands of hair. Incredible!

Well you had me going for a minute there!
Very, very fine images. Incredibly sharp, crisp, and natural-looking.
I find myself wanting one, but it'll have to wait a few years. I've got to master the 10D first.

My wife doesn't like my new 10D because the pictures are too true to life. So when we take pictures, I make sure I get at least one with full front flash and then blur it up a bit before sharpening in photoshop, so it has that $100 digicam look. Then she likes it a lot.
She says the pictures from the 10D are too close to reality.

Those shots are unreal. So sharp you could cut yourself on them. Anyone know what Program 1 on the MKII is? Would be interesting to know what the in camera settings were.
Like TomW I'll be holding on to my 10D untill I master it and figure out where the film goes in.

Probably one of those custom settings we all have been peeing our pants over to get on the next 10D.

Dang it, I knew I shouldn't have posted this thread. I swear you can count blood cells in the pours of her skin. I can't wait. I am going to go camp out on the front porch of my camera store. In D.C..

My wife found a good photo make up book. You put on a ton of make up (allot) and then fade it all out in photoshop, taking out all the blemishes but with so much makeup it doesn't look like it's so touched up. Do a couple shots like that on her and she'll love your camera again.

OMG!! That is wonderful, I can't wait to get that camera. I want it RIGHT NOW!! I am just thinking of the flowers, the bees and the birds...OMG!!
Oh well, WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!
RFM, I shutter to think of the speed boat shots you will be getting, your prices just went up. With shots you will be getting, you should be able to feel the spray of water from the photos.
That is truly amazing, Canon has a real winner on their hands. Nikon? Who? LOL...Nikon has a stretch to beat that. Canon has really impressed me. I was sold before the camera came out but I am really sold.
Let me not forget...Thank, thank, thank you...Pekka for posting that. I am not going to eat any lunch at work until I get that hot little baby in my hands. LOL

The shots are so detailed I feel like invading the girls' intimacy...
But hold yer horses, willya? Are this camera's photographs really that revolutionary compared to 10D? I think you're overreacting. But that's just me.

Until we get our own MKIIs in our hot little hands, all we have to go by are samples. Are these photos "revolutionary?" No, probably not, but that still remains to be seen. One thing that is very impressive about these photos is the girl's hair. Every freaking strand of it. No moire or stepping. Sweet.
The MKII does have some brand new technology in it though, so it will most certainly take dSLRs to the next level. That, I have no doubt about. And I am also quite sure the measurebators will be shooting rulers, dominos and who knows what else to beat every detail to the n'th degree and drive us all crazy (once again).
In the meantime, I'll be out shooting motorsports and jet sprint boats, and just about everything else that moves. And everything else that stands still too. I have already taken a solemn vow some time ago that I refuse to shoot ANY rulers with ANY of my dSLRs.

Awesome. Both of those seem a big step up from a 10D image. Definition, lack of fringing and jagglies, sheer dynamics all blow away not only Canons current range but the competition are now leagues behind. We are now coming to the point where digital not only equals film but beats that too.

I think it is. I like the 10D and agree it is a really nice camera. Generally. But the 1D Mark II brings to the table everything the 10D lacks.... Speed for one, amazing speed... and even higher quality images, not to mention the build quality of the 1 series body, along with all the 1 Series features not available on the 10D.
I think it is revolutionary, as was the release of the 1D.
My opinion.

I'm not really disagreeing with you. I just think it's more accurate to say, "It's profoundly evolutionary." We already know that digital photography is still in its relative infancy, and the growth in technology over the lst few years has been staggering. The Mk II simply represents a very large step in capabilities and quality over its predecessor.
Imagine what we'll be drooling over in five years.

If we compare it to a 10D .. the differences are huge,. (and I don't mean just image wise.. I think the other differences in build and functioan are more significant)
But compared to a 1D... it is indeed a fairly small evolutionary leap..
But,. the "yardstick" (sorry about the ruler reference) is stretched when you compare how much of a leap the MkII is in comparison the small steps that the competition is/has been taking.
The time lines are remarkable when you see that the MkII will be released within a few short months of the D2H... so close the releases were practically simultaeneous..

...and besides it´s the photographer that makes the photo. not the camera :!:
Anyway i´m sure the 1D-MKII is a formidable camera. :D
Don´t get me wrong. Just curious....
Could it be that the sample pics have been going through some post processing before posting them :?:

I don't think so. He said "The images below are untouched, with the expection of rotation of the portrait pic in PS."
Take a look at this post (dpreview forum) regarding this. http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1019&message=7849721

I think one thing your leaving out of the 1d to mark II comparison is the price. It's nearly half is it not?

Rumors have it at about 3 times the street price of a 10D.
Ain't that a hoot? And I still ordered one....

The 1D/,.. yes but it was introduced at an even $5,000.00
...it has gone down in price,. as it is now nearly three years old...

Bugger.
First I handled the MkII at Focus (UK) just over a week ago
Then I see the quality of these images.
(don't get me wrong, my 10D is cracking quality - just not this cracking...)
The world is conspiring to force me into buying a 1DmkII, the swines.
Does anyone think I should try and sound more upset about this?

WHY SHOW IT TO ME!!!
