For those who don't know, the North end of terminal D is an excellent spot for takeoff shots;)

how do people get photography of airplanes these days? get them while they are on vactaion/business trip? work there? its so hard I'm assuming. (at least in america)

Pretty much, yeah. There are other ways, if you know exactly where to go, but I just get mine while traveling ;)

Much better. You can add slightly more "depth" to a shot like this by selecting around the aircraft, maybe with a 40px feather, & just sharpening inside the selection to leave the buildings a bit soft.

Thanks :) I kind of like it as is now, I think. Makes the blur caused by the jet's exhaust stand out nicely against the sharper buildings :)

every where I lived it's been near airports, they all seem to have aircraft viewing spots. I was just at a few today in Phoenix.

Yea, I just know some good spots around RNO and when I am not busy, to keep sharp...I head down.
