I thought I was going mad opening files on this site and getting blurry images. Photos were not consistant enough to consider a new monitor or internet conection. Finally I realized many posters were compressing their files. I right clicked and selected view original image as per windows XP and in a few seconds the "haze" went away. I love to see the pics as sharp as you did taking it.:D Most of you likely already know this .Just in case

Hmm.. Maybe you're using a non-standard browser, but I don't experience the same problem on most of the images here.
The only problem I have is in the attached images, which are optimised so that they're under 100K (as per forum rules) - in these cases I find that images are sometimes too small to see properly, or their quality has been decreased to such an extent that the quality is lost.
If more poeple would use photo hosting websites and link to the high-quality jpg files, things would look so much better.

On one of my forums a user was lamenting picture quality and having to "view original image" to see them properly - in her case gif emoticons were stationary, too.
Her problem was caused by a plugin set by her ISP that was reducing bandwidth by reducing the quality of pictures. I hate to think how large their cache was...
Anyways - the plugin had a setting to set "view original image" to default.
