Hi,

I'm looking at building a small photo studio in part of our house to use to photograph babies & children. Am considering the installation of downlights in the ceiling to light the room.

Does anyone have any suggestions of the best lighting for the ceiling? How many, wattage, layout etc. The room is quite small, 3.6m square but its the best I have.

Once I have the room built, I'll then investigate studio lighting with umbrellas or soft boxes.

Thanks,
Belinda.

Usually with studio lighting, you want as little ambient light contribution as possible. Go with as low a wattage as you can get away with, and I'd stay away from floursescents. Mixed lighting is difficult enough, but flourescents cause even more issues.
