All of a sudden my 30D is giving a continues on, red access light no mater what setting of on/ off switch is place and nothing works, no message on LCD.
What is happening? Is it a dead sign or something needs to be rest or done to go back to business? I remove, and replaced batteries, memory card closed and opened the memory door, remove and reattached the BG-E2. Nothing works. It is still under warranty.

Did you take out the small, button shaped date/time battery too?

Is this with the CF card out? If not, did you try a different CF card?

Take out batteries, leave the camera few minutes and start it up again without a CF card. trya new CF card. If these things don't help you, then really you'll have to send it in for repair.

Sorry for your trouble, I hope it is still under warranty.

I had this happen to my 20D a while ago, the red light wouldn't go out. It turned out to be a corrupt Sandisk Extreme III 2gb, which i got replaced free of charge.

Yeah, I ahd the same thing happen to me with a Lexar card. Once I replaced the card, all was good.

Can you read the card with your computer? If so I would take all the pics off ASAP! then try to format it with windows. If that don't work, send it back to the manufacturer. Good luck!

The red light here comes on with or with out CF, irrespective pf camera's on off position.
It is on its way to repair center and I am feeling missing it right now. The good news is Canon said repair is about 7 days...

Have you removed the batteries, reinserted, restored factory defaults and then tried it? Or will it not even let you access menus and pushbuttons?

Removed both batteries.
Nothing works. No LCD message.
Only red access light at 5 oclock position of dial.

Canon will take good care of your baby...they are a little slow on communications...I had mine back the day I got the message saying they were beginning repairs. Last repair was 9 days from door to door....

Canon service was pretty damn quick on my 70-200 lens service, cleaning, and calibration.

(I used the service center in Irvine, CA)
