I got my 10D today. Very impressed with it so far. Love the focus speed. The image quality is definitely better from my G5. I love it. It's only 4 hours old. Still learning it.
Purchased:
Canon EOS 10D
EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
Camera body warranty
Lens warranty
Lens Hood
Six pack of Heineken's

You're unusual. Most people don't have enogh money left for beer.

Just take the money for the six pack and let a trusted friend hold on to it. Then save for the item. Once you save up, buy and receive your item ask your friend for the beer money. When your friend can't come up with it, you'll be so mad at him/her that you'll forget about all of the money you shelled out for your gear... :D

Got my 10D today as well! Never owned, saw or even touched a SLR in real life before, the decision was fully based on web reviews and forums including this cool one, so first impressions:
- it's beautiful
- it's so big and heavy compared to Canon G3
- some lenses are even bigger and heavier
- autofocus is something that actually happens automagically within milliseconds, rather than seconds
After two hours:
- it's the most beautiful and sophisticated tool that I ever owned
- it's size and weight are the best imaginable for an excellent SLR
- some lenses actually produce wonderful bokeh and allow flashless blurfree shooting in my dimlit living room
- digital noise is a term from history
I have already done the wife, the kid and the Moon. Now into some serious photography: rulers and dominos - here I come!

You need to show feelings for your trusted friend. You need to walk a mile in his shoes. Then, you will be one mile away and you'll still have his shoes.

This is exactly why I got it also. Using a Minolta 7000i also made me want to get a digital SLR.
This forum really got me wanting a digital SLR after reading some good posts and seeing some wonderful pictures.
Have fun with yours Jyrgen. Enjoy it to the fullest.

Tito and Jesper - thank you! I wish a lot of fun to you as well! I sure had mine today. Since it occurred that I got no rulers at home, I had to do the oranges

Well done! Excellent job,. and those oranges tell a more complete story than any ruler ever could.
1. The correct orange is in perfect focus..
2. They look so good I can actually smell them..
//let's see a ruler do that!

What is your idea of big lens? Try looking at the 1200mm F5.6 lens and it will set you back about $80K US! Back to lenses that are semi affordable, there is the 500mm and 120-300mm from Sigma. LOL

You need web space somewhere to store the images.. Once you have uploaded them there, put a link here using the img tag.
When you're entering a message, look up above the box you're typing in..
You'll see some grey buttons.. one of them has img on it.. Press that.. It will generate the opening tag.. Then enter the full URL eg (http://whereIstored.my.image.com/myimage.jpg) then press the img button again.. It will insert the closing tag..
That's it.....

Congrats all!! Welcome to the club!!
Here are the requirements:
In order to join this club, you MUST spend at least $8000 USD the first 6 months.
Let me tell you what you need:
Open credit on your credit card and a lot of it. Or, cash or second mortgage on your home.
L - Lenses a must, you can't post photos unless you have one.
Carbon tripod and monopod, you can't take photos without them.
You also need a VERY UNDERSTANDING spouse, without that, you can't do anything.
We will then discuss what else you need, that is enough for now. Perhaps, you can put off buying that bigger house, even think about getting a smaller place. Forget about the new car, walking is better. The children's college fund, they can work and and pay their own way.
Don't worry, we will get you adjusted to your new way of life real fast. DEAD BROKE!!!
If you want to save some money right away, just buy the MK ll, it will save you the money of upgrading later.
New rule just added: Must admit that you are a Canon-aholic.
Welcome!!!
