I present 12mm goodness. This is straight of the camera, just a resize and little sharpen. the 12-24mm is way better on the 5d than the 350d in terms of image quality.

Is that a Furi knife in bottom right hand corner?
You just never know when you might need to chop something.

She probably needs it to cut her way through the undergrowth to get to the bed way over there on the horizon ;)
That desk's hUUUUUge!

You have great taste in knives, I absolutely love mine (I bought the more traditional 20 cm cooks knife, but was really tempted by your east/weast one).
If you haven't already got one, I would very highly recommend the Furi Diamond Fingers sharpener. I had bought a cheapie sharpener from a homewares shop and after a few months I could see my beautiful knife being slowly ruined.
Myer have a 30% off knives and accessories atm, so this $50 sharpener is $35 and miles ahead of anythings I've seen, all my knives are now sharper than new , no burs, no dints........mmmmm..... sharpie goodness. ;)

I'm definitely sticking with PC's for developing for the time being - ther neg scans are 3090x2050 pixel resolution (or thereabouts). Plenty of room to play with for the prints. :)

Oh I have a question for anyone with digital TV out there. The last day or so, what has your ABC reception been like? We are have been getting 0% on both strength and quality of signal. We are getting no ABC2, and ABC is out 90% of the time and the rest of the time it may get a weak weak signal, perhaps 30% on the strength and 10% on the quality.
:( :( I miss my ABC.

Anyone here from Bne/Aus ever bought from B&H in the US?
Their prices, even when converted to AU$, seem pretty good but I seem to be stuck for options from what I read on their checkout webpages.
They don't accept paypal for Aus deliveries, c/card only. The shipping address must match your c/card billing address. For me that's a PO Box. They won't ship to a PO Box.
Unless I'm missing something, that there's a Catch-22.
Any ideas? Or Aus stores with comparable prices? I was after the Manfrotto 3021BPRO (055PROB in Aus I believe) tripod with 488RC2 head. I looked at some online stores here but they don't seem to carry those.

I was actually after a 055MF3 and a 488RC2 as well... but I found that they were MUCH cheaper in US than here.... like you can save a good couple of hundred all up on that combo.
Glad to see you got joy through adorama.

Yeah I've ordered heaps from them in the past. And YES you do have to have a credit card that matches your address. Trouble is, Australian banks won't release that information to them, so you have to wire money to their account if your order is over $1,500 USD. For orders under $1,500, you have to fax a copy of your credit card statement to them for verification purposes, (just for your first order) but once you've done that, it's Thunderbirds are GO!
I don't think either of them will ship to a PO Box number, so that's tough! Just give them your real address.
For a simpler transaction regime, try Adorama. They're not as touchy.
EDIT: Ooops ! Too late.

I hate waiting, I always want things as soon as I've decided to buy. I love to just walk into a store and say I want one of those. Mind you this is usually after a fair bit of background research so I know what I should pay. With lenses though I buy online.
Almost get the same effect as a 12mm with the 8mm fishy. Mind you, there are several on here that have adapted 10-22 to work on a 5D. The used the rear of a old 75-300. I saw a thread about this only last week I think

Anyone notice the slight breeze outside?
I love this bird with it's long neck and funny walk, I must have sat there for over half an hour waiting for it to extend its neck and "do something", but instead its just looked at me rugged up in my jumper like, "what? your wearing three layers of clothes and still look colder than me, you go, "do something".
Anyone know what this bird is called?
I'm assuming it's some sort of Egret.

I was actually after a 055MF3 and a 488RC2 as well... but I found that they were MUCH cheaper in US than here.... like you can save a good couple of hundred all up on that combo.
Glad to see you got joy through adorama.
I think having a look around and checking Germany out too would be a good idea, seeing how cheap it all was when I was over there. Quite literally, nearly half the price we pay here. Shipping might make-up for that, but it's worth a try!

Thanks. I'll give it a look...
Yep - much "easier". It's on the way. Yay for me.
I've got my 488 I'm thinking of letting go. I could've let you have that.
Just received a TXT from helen from melbourne.
and I quote...
haha, i just got a text from Helen too...
I love this. She's interstate and still effectively posting on POTN by proxy :D
I rang PC' again today because I saw they hadn't taken my deposit off of my card yet. I want to make sure they still had me down on the list for the 40D. Yep, they do, I'm no9 of about 30+ so I shouldn't have too much trouble getting one in the first shipment next week.
Need I reiterate my experience? ;) Fingers crossed for you Greg :)

I think we all need 5D's... or 1DmkIII's... one of the two. ;)
Almost get the same effect as a 12mm with the 8mm fishy. Mind you, there are several on here that have adapted 10-22 to work on a 5D. The used the rear of a old 75-300. I saw a thread about this only last week I think.
If mine is anything to go by, the advantages of adapting the 10-22 would outweigh the fact you're losing what in my opinion is a very sh*tty lens.

Okay, here's one I found:
During a world fair a group of scientists were exhibiting their advances in genetic engineering. There were cross-breeds of various bulls, cows and other domestic farm animals. Featured in the exhibit were several over-sized prize turkeys. One afternoon during the show, a woman walked up to the exhibit, shot the turkeys, and then ran out of the building. Although she was known to a number of people, nobody made any attempt to stop her.
Why?

On a rainy day, a man who lives on the 18th floor rides the elevator all the way to the lobby and goes to work. When he comes back from work, he rides the elevator all the way back to the 18th floor. On a sunny day, the man comes back from work and uses the same elevator, but this time he only takes it to the 12th floor and has to use the stairs to climb the rest of the way. Why did he have to take the stairs?

on the rainy days he has an umbrella and can reach a higher floor button with it, than when he's without.
