I need new batteries in mine. Too many 1/1 flashes in the last 2 days and now recycle times are shocking

Mmmmm PowerEX batteries ftw :)

Hmmm.... i just had a few kind police officers rock up at the front door looking for the last tennants

Got dodge?

You're a dodge :D

The next POTN meet should be Idiot Paparazzi

LMAO I'd be up for that! :D

Stores like Myer usually have a policy that prohibits photos being taken inside their premises. Shopping centres themselves usually have rules like this too, so if a security guard sees a large group of people with cameras like we have then I doubt we'd be allowed to stay there much longer.

Well... our last meet (Roma St gardens) ended up at the Myer Centre going nuts... heheheh that was classic... someone got one of me eating nandos :o

It wasn't too wide, the cliffs were just too far from the city

suuuure... lol :D

Re Batteries and recycle time. I have duracell 2650 mAh rechargables and have had the same batteries in since I got it gee July? and I use my flash a far bit. Those things are powerhorses.

PowerEX ftw!!! www.servaas.com.au (http://www.servaas.com.au) (I think) along with Maha chargers!!!!!! :p

mm.. i'll have to ring up and see what their prices are.. shouldn't be anything too out of my league, i guess.

If I read the pricelist correctly, it should be $9.00 for a 8x12.

rob, could you pm your last name to me? i'm trying to add you to myspace, haha.

No need. I just added you. ;)

hi guys, i'm back. had a great trip, but did have one major hiccup. I dropped my 10-22 before i left, and never thought to check it, and of course, it was busted. I had to buy a 18-55 to substitute. I have come home with absolutely tons of photos, and very little time to work on them. Talk about a busy week! Here are a few bear shots.
Top shot there greg. That should do well at comp.

Really people should just wait for me to answer.

The thick light strip is the foot path light as seen in Reece's photo of the story bridge. The other lights are building lights and other random lights round the place.

does anyone have any ideas as to how this could be made better? its got me stumped... (apart from the fact that i rushed the shot and chopped off the bottom of the glass!)

Great shot !!!

My fancy goldfish's eggs are hatching ... I would be having lots of baby fish again ... so anybody interested ... place your requests and how many max 5 I guess ... first comes to my pvt box got first serve ...

Not sure how many I would end up getting cos the babies are not easy to look after. But I got nearly about 100 babies with colours last time... so ....

Not promising you would get what you want but you would not get if you do not ask ... there you go ....

The 24-105 wouldnt be a bad replacement for the 28-135. Im trying to think what to replace mine with when my dad buys it off me next week. Thinking a tammy 28-75 or perhaps an 85mm 1.8 and then use some birthday money to pay for helens 30mm and just stick with primes in the mid range...

[subliminal message]The 24-105L is alright, but you want the 24-70 f2.8L[/subliminal message]

There are some decent tamron lenses. The 17-50 and 28-75 are generally very good and the tammy 90mm f2.8 macro has an extremely good reputation

id be looking for like $800 with the 2 lenses, 1gb card, strap, battery, battery charger thing, and i have a little bag somewhere if anyone wanted it.. won't fit both lenses though...

i want a 30D :p

would prefer to sell it with the lenses as they're a bit hard to shift on their own, but i guess i could do it without them for less..

I've been thinking about that the last couple of days. If I get this job at Dick Smith Electronics (I had a phone interview on Tuesday) I'm going to buy a brand new 400D. Failing that I'd probably buy Helen's.

Haha, I hope so. :)

It depends. By applying to DSE, you could possibly end up at a Tandy store. The store I'm applying for isn't even open yet so I don't know whether it'll be a DSE or a Tandy.

Requirements (as far as I understand them):
Tandy: Better than average knowledge of audio/visual and home appliance type products. Knowing how to set them up would be an advantage.
DSE: Same as above, though DSE sells component electronics like switches, wire, plugs/sockets, LEDs and other stuff that is used on circuit boards as well. They usually look for someone with a decent product knowledge in this area as a result.

Out of those you have listed the Canon 85mm 1.8.
Mine arrived today and damm this lens is a sweet thing. I say that with the 50mm and the 30mm (damm fine too) as a sweet prime set up till you have the dough /kidney for the 24-70 2.8 because really why drop money on a substandard sigma/tammy of the same range. Does it have a red ring??? no!

Beautiful lens but boy is it slow to focus. But when it gets there oh la la.

Ummmm, I thought you wanted a zoom not a macro (despite it making a nice portrait lens)

And i agree with Helen, you really need that nice red ring on the end of it

anyway, i got bored today with uni study..

i cant work out what the problem with the red is in this photo... started off too bright, now im not sure if this has lost the nice vibrancy it had or not...

does anyone have any ideas as to how this could be made better? its got me stumped... (apart from the fact that i rushed the shot and chopped off the bottom of the glass!)

hi leitch, you must be new here, as i don't remember seeing your name before now. ( i have been away for a few weeks). This is my version of what to do..
use a light tent, and make sure you have a smooth background, camera on tripod, remote cable release. At least 2 lights either side to create even light. Drop in the food colouring from above, and start snapping. here is my result i did a while ago. Shoot in raw and fix the white balance in post processing. I did a test shot before i put in the colouring.

thanks tina! unfortunately i'm limited by only having one flash at the moment, and no other really suitable lights at easy access. no remote shutter release, nor tripod at the moment either unfortunately, so i was making do with what i have haha. thanks a lot for your input, your example is certainly far better than anything i managed!
