Hello Crew...
1) The two small ports on the front of the unit (located at about 10 o'clock off the rim of the lens...looking at the lens)...is this the microphone? (& if so...the small grate on the top of the unit...that would be the speaker?)
2) With no lossless file format...just how lossy is Super-Fine JPEG? Can lossless (RAW or TIFF) be distinguished from SF JPEG (& if so, how)?
Thanks very much,

1) Check your manual. It has an exploded view with all the features marked. Lots of information in the manual. Read it.
2) The largest difference between lossless format and JPEG high quality is the size of the file. The lossless is huge compaired to the JPEG high quality. The image difference is noticable on large magnification, and it IS there. Normal use, it's not noticable. As you lower the file size, the compression artifacts become more and more noticable. If you want to do a test, use a tripod, grab a subject of high contrast and take three shots. Then compare on a computer.

Numerically, about 6:1 (based on the A70, 3.2Mpix @ 3bytes each / 1.5MB typical L/SF file size).
Visually, you can see artifacts at light-dark edges. For many subjects it it isn't too obvious. For some.... :( let's just say a lossless format would be a nice option to have.

Stopbath...don't have a manual...haven't purchased the camera yet.
