Taken today at a local state park. All with Rebel XT with Sigma 100-300 + 1.4 TC. If I have the ID's wrong, please let me know. The woodpeckers are cropped by about half and the hawk about a quater was cropped.

4. I like how the ice is reflecting the color of the hawk on this one, look at the branch by it's back.

Love the look of these with the iced-over branches. A very different look we just don't get where I am. Very nice set of images, well done

Wow - those branches are icy - looks very cold. Well taken shots, although I think the first two are Hairy Woodpecker (long bill in relation to head size and clean white outer tail feathers - Downy 'normally' shows a dark spot or two there).

Thank you, I just wish I could have gotten closer. It is not very easy trying to be quite when everything around you is ice. I kept trying to get closer slowly but he would just fly away to another tree close by. After the 2nd time I just let him go.

Very nice and striking images, but whoa, that hawk looks hungry :)

Thank you for the correction. I thought they seemed a bit larger than a downy but I was having trouble finding anything that looked like it other than a downy. I just did another search and I do believe you are correct.:)

Great shots John. I often wonder how those big birds get into such tight places. :)

Great shots! I love the RTHawk with the ice. I like how the ice covered branch in the first RTH shot curves around with the hawk

Thank you Fee, Mitch, Daniel, Gary, and Erik. I am still learning photography and the camera. I have been having fun with it. I have been in awe with the pictures I have been seeing on this forum, alot of them from you guys. I am happy to be able to put up some pictures that I have been happy with. Now if I could just get a bit closer
