Hi all.
I'm an aviation photographer and I use an EOS3 with Canon 100-300 f4-5,6 USM, Canon 35-80 f4 and Sigma 400 f5,6 HSM. In a few days I will purchase an EOS10D : are my lenses suitable to use with this camera ?
Since the focal length of the lenses must be moltiplicated by a 1,6 factor, will my Sigma 400 work well, being non-stabilezed ? If my lenses are not suitable for use, can You suggest new (non ultra-expensive) lenses ?
Thank You.

Your canon ones will be fine, keep your shutter speeds up and you'll not have a problem with the sigma 400mm either. If I am shooting birds in flight or aircraft then I turn off IS On my canon 400mm anyway.

However....
I would check with Sigma that your lens will work on the 10D, as some sigma lenses do not have the correct circuitry to work. SInce you have been using an EOS3 then it should, but an email to sigma with the serial number will confirm all you need to know...

I'm afraid it is VERY likely that the Sigma 400mm f/5.6 WILL NOT work with the 10D

It is an older discontinued lens...

It Might be able to be "re-chipped".. but that seems to no longer be a 100% guarantee.. there be lenses that can't be fixed this way.

Just to add.. I've used the Canon 100-300 at an air show and the results were great..

Because the 10D's sensor is smaller than a full 35mm frame, you get some cropping when you shoot.. This makes the effective focal length appear to be 1.6x longer.. Your 100-300 will give you the same result as a 160-480mm lens..
