This is my first post in CC, so if I'm in the wrong area please let me know. I'm looking for advice on how this photo could be improved. Coming from the P&S world, I've only been into the SLR thing for about 4 months (I'm loving it). Having said that, I've learned alot from this forum and strive to continue along that path. My first impressions were that the background may be a little too busy. Any suggestions and comments will be appreciated. Photo info: handheld, 105mm, Av5.6, Tv 1/32, ISO 200.

I think you hit the nail on the head - it is too cluttered behind to make the vehcle stand out. Try getting lower down or moving round for a better, less cluttered background.

For me its a lighting issue. Too harsh, too flat and too 'midday sun' look. Re-shoot early morning; dew, low light and possible mist would enhance this wonderfuly.Or alternatively much later in the day. Also try and isolate the subject from the background just a little. Play with colours and I think you could be on to a winner

Maybe lower you DOF, that may help with the clutter in the background. Also just my opinion but I would like this a lot in B&W or Sepia

Thanks for the comments all. This shot was actually taken from a car during the middle of the day. I will probably go back to the location this evening or tomorrow morning and recompose. I'll also post a follow up. Regards.

I agree with the B+W comment. I think it would really nice in B+W.

I agree on the lighting and the DOF comments. Also, if you can move around to the right and get the car on more of an angle so you can see the front grill & lights while not losing the nice curves of the front fenders might serve to add more interest to the vehicle. B&W or a doutone would be time fitting.
