Well, thought this might be interesting...This is the currency of England, pounds and are worth about twice the US dollar as of writing this. This was taken with a super cheap lens on the 10D.

Here it is:

There is the woefully slow FVU that you can use and PS Elements 2.0. That is no excuse!

belmondo:
I had a feeling you would say something like that. Good one! Heck I can do the same, sorta. I know it is all cha-ching! Your money is used well, I see.

scotgasch:
80 quid is about $147 at international exchange rate. You can figure about 5-10% on top of that for the banks and come up with what I call extortion rate, and varies with how greedy bank x is. You can go to www.xe.com for international exchange rates.

I didn't mean to jump all over your thread that way, but that was just too much of a perfect softball for a demented mind such as my own. Somewhere, somebody out in the forum is reading this thread right now thinking I'm picking on you. (Let 'em think it---I have broad shoulders and other parts.) Little do they know, you and I go all the way back to July.

Stay warm

What's Issac Newton doing on an English bill? I thought he was American. Isn't he's the guy that invented Fig Newton's for Nebesco?

Bob:
I wish it was Tehachapi just for a little variety. It's actually North Palm Springs (Garnett) at the Amtrak Station, and you’re right; the geology is very similar to Tehachapi. Those are the Little San Bernardino Mountains on the north side of the valley, just east of San Gorgonio Pass. One of these days I am going to get up to Tahachapi with my camera. I'd love to get some pictures of trains on the loop.

Actually, Garnett is one of my favorite places to setup the cameras because you can see the trains coming for miles (from the west). Also, the railroad doesn't hassle you too badly, even when you venture onto the dirt roads that parallel the tracks. There's a big wind turbine farm there which is somewhat photogenic, and the mountains can be lovely on clearer days. This spot is almost due north of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway at Mt. San Jacinto, and I've actually been able to photograph the upper tramway station which is over 8,000 feet above the desert floor where this picture was taken.

The main downside of this location is wind. San Gorgonio Pass is a natural funnel which accelerates winds as they blow in from the west. I guess that's why they put the windmill farm there. Afternoon winds in excess of 30-35 mph are not uncommon. Gentle breezes elsewhere in the valley translate into mighty winds in The Pass.

Another nice thing about this location is that the pass is a natural barrier for clouds coming in from the west. They tend to 'pile up' on the west side of the mountains while the desert side remains clear and warm. Every once in a while the clouds build up to tremendous heights behind the mountains, creating truly dramatic backdrops. If nothing else, they keep back a lot of the putrid air from the L.A. Basin.

I love this place.

When did the Brits last update the design of their money?
The Queen looks like she's in her twenties...

Why don't you get the Euro, the bills are not less colorful.

Whats a Euro. Oh yeh, its that thing that 75% of brits will not vote for when Tony B Liar gets around to a referendum

The queen has and always look in her twenties on her money. You would do the same if you had the chance eh?

So it's tony's fault for the brits not taking the Euro?
If you vote no for the Euro, the next referendum will be for adopting the $, the cash of his friends... (hmmm... am I evil here?)

Luckily when crossing the channel, I can pay with Creditcard, so I don't have to change too much.
It's not like in Germany (luckily for me they have the Euro, so I don't have to change), where they don't take VISA or other Creditcard in a lot of stores...

NOOO its the Brits fault for not taking on the Euro. I travel around Europe a lot and often find myself trying to use Euros in a London cab "cor blimee mate whats that then". But we do love our pound (as our friends across the water love their greenback) and wont take orders yet from some committee in Brussels, or anywhere else for that matter. Its going to be a long while before the Brits think of themselves as European.

I think Tony B Liar would have more sucess selling us the Dollar, particularly at the current exchange rate.

I think Aussie money is pretty cool.

It's not actually paper, but rather a pliable plastic that feels like paper.
This makes is almost impossible to rip, and it isn't harmed if you accidentally leave it in your pants while laundering.

Plus it has a see thru plastic window that makes it really hard to counterfit.
