What image size should I shoot in in order to have it editable/big enough for framing an 8x10?TIA

Need to be more specific.
At all time you should be shooting at the highest res and if possible at the finest setting.

You want to shoot in the best possible image quality in the largest possible size...so if you are shooting jpeg images...it needs to be set to large/fine. If you are shooting RAW the image with already be properly sized, just don't downsize it when it gets edited.

Uh, how do I know I am shooting in JPEG? Brand new cam I just got for Christmas.............Is there one file type that is better to shoot in than any other?

Most P&S cams use JPEG only.

I am using a Canon A630. A small upgrade from my 3.2 MP BenQ DC2300:oops::lol:

I don't own an A630 but most canon are pretty much the same.
Look for the button FUNC, this is the function button. Press it and it should display a selection of icon on the left side and on the bottom will display options. You want the resolution ( L, M, and S) select L and compression should be F (fine)
