Have always wanted to shoot this building at Sydney Uni and finally got my butt in to gear and went and shot it. I had some difficulty getting a correct exposure i feel because of the street lamps but it came out ok, ill go back at dawn then at dusk and it should come out better, will try it with my filters when they arrive next week aswell.
C&C welcome, actually if anyone can give me some advise on how best to expose a shot like this where there are bright lights on the building would be great.

I think will get on the ground for this one and come at it at an angle instead

i'm real bad at taking shots with many different levels... did you consider trying an HDR on it? I've always wanted to try that too ;)

yeah i did only after the fact though and the ones that i could have used the exposures were not far enough apart.

Looks nice Mike......as said you'll most probably need a multilple exposure or some HDR on that. If you plan to take some day time pictures there is a nice spot from the top of Fischer library. Just ask one of the staff if you can go up the top just to take a couple of pictures.

I like them, Michael.
I don't know if I'd go down the HDR road with that shot. It seems to me that what you've captured would be pretty close to what we'd see with our eyes. Parts of the building would be brighter and parts would be darker.
I think you've exposed it well. Instead of going HDR you could carry out some tweaking in Photoshop if you wanted to further lighten or darken certain areas. I had a quick play with the small jpeg here and it is possible to put a little more light on the front of the building.

I actually got up early and went to get a sunrise of the opera house then come back to the uni, i think the dusk shots are alot better.

Fischer library is the big building that would have been behind you when you took the pic :)
Here's a pic (http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/1329/80on3.jpg)I took from upstairs when I was shooting film. Yes I was just learning photoshop at the time :)

michael, my only suggestion is to go earlier, so there is still a bit of definition in the sky. that way you can have a slightly longer exposure but won't blow out the lights so much. lovely photos though.
