Abstractions

The Center for Fine Art Photography invites photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought to participate in its exhibitions and activities. Contemporary, traditional, avant garde, creative and experimental works that include new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements are welcome.
Theme: Abstractions
Emphasizing a derived image, where the essential character is only a stylized or symbolic visual reference to the original. Art that depicts real forms in a simplified or reduced way - keeping only an allusion of the original natural subject.
Eligibility: The exhibition is open to all professional and amateur, domestic and international photographers working with digital or traditional photography or combinations of both.
Juror: Gary Chassman is the founder and president of Verve Editions, an independent producer of photography, art, illustrated books, and related museum exhibitions. He was publisher of Callaway Editions, and was previously affiliated with Aperture Books and Macmillan. He also served as Editorial Director of Magnum.
This is an excellent opportunity for photographers with a body of work seeking interest by a renowned publisher.
Awards
All exhibitions award opportunities for artists to present their work to an international audience of collectors, curators, art consultants and others who appreciate the fine art of photography.
• Juror’s Selection award: $400 + Special Recognition in Artists’ ShowCase, the Center’s feature section in CameraArts magazine.
• Director's Selection award: $200 + Special Recognition in Artists' ShowCase
• Two Artists’ ShowCase Online subscriptions – the Center’s new online image marketing website (preview at www.artists-showcase.org)
• Five or more images will be selected for inclusion in the Center’s publication, Artists’ ShowCase, the feature section in CameraArts magazine
• All exhibitors are included in the Center's online gallery
• Inclusion in the Center's 2007 Exhibition Collection CD which is distributed to selected galleries, collectors, design houses and corporations world wide

• Entries due February 6, 2007
• February 15, 2007 : Notification of acceptance
• March 30, 2007: Exhibition opening
• April 6, 2007: Public reception for artists
• April 28, 2007: Exhibition closes
Submitting Entries for Jurying
Entries are submitted via the Center’s on-line system. Click on Call for Entries on the homepage to begin the process.
>> Note: images previously accepted by The Center for Fine Art Photography for exhibition in the previous 12 months are NOT eligible. Images submitted but not accepted for exhibition may be resubmitted as often as you wish. <<
Entry Fee
• The entry fee for non-members is $35 USD for the first three images.
• The entry fee for members of The Center for Fine Art Photography is $20.00 USD for 3 images.
• Applicants signing up for membership at the time they submit their work for jurying may become a member and meet the entry fee for a total of $65.00 USD. Membership includes annual subscription to CameraArts magazine, eligibility to sell work on Artists’ ShowCase Online and other benefits listed on the Center’s website.
• Additional images may be submitted for $10 each. There is no limit to the number of images that may be submitted.
