Wasn't really sure how to shoot this, does it work? The balance is a little off, crop it closer? The light at the back is a tree statue which I lined up with the natural tree in the foreground.

I noticed that I got some barrel distortion when I straightened the verticals (shot with 17-40, 17mm, F16 for 15secs at ISO 100) so might give this a go in DxO first.

Dear rammy,

Not sure to what "balance" you refer - color balance or the geometric balance.

This is a very interesting image for which the usual concepts of color balance and composition do not necessarily apply. I like the effect that you obtained here - it shows a great deal of innovation. I wouldn't worry about the slight barrel distortion - it probably wouldn't be noticed if you didn't mention it - at least it's symmetrical, and this shot is all about symmetry.

Congratulations

I like the tone of the image. The tree in the center is preventing me looking into the photo. I think if you had put the tree to the side so you could look down between the buildings it would have worked better. The tree just seems to cut the picture in two.

Thanks Robert, much appreciated. I was thinking geometric, more of the balance with the left and right of the image, I was thinking of zooming in a little to show more of the tunnel effect that the two buildings implied. The distortion is slight and only just noticeable. Thanks for comments.

That was the effect I was going for, I wanted the tree right in the middle because it is not your usual shot. I do have three others of this same location, one depicting the angle you mention but I felt this one was the most usual and a break from the norm. Thanks.
