You can use one of these with any small or large light stand. It will also hold an umbrella.

I'm not sure. Before I got studio gear I just bought 2 of the holders and a couple of cheap light stands. Before that I just used a $19.00 tripod and used the small stand that comes with the Speedlites. There's a threaded hole in the bottom that will screw on to the tripod.

Appears to be the same thing and a few dollars less - no 5 year warranty

I am looking at stands and umbrallas and I have not seen any kits per say. I am wondering how much light a umbralla or small light box would use - don't think my flashes are that powerful. Possibly you could use a flash soft box similar to this http://www.lumiquest.com/lq925.htm I think I will get this stand kit http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=241790&is=REG&addedTroughType=searchplan on grabing a couple of 30 or 40" umbrallas (Silver and Gold) and possibly this light stand kit

I recently purchased a stand and umbrella kit for flashes from bhphoto. I don't have the link, but if you go click on the 580ex flash and then look under accessories, you should find the stand kit. It's made by impact and comes with two stands, two flash and umbrella holders, and two umbrellas with removable black backs. I really like my set up and use it frequently. For the price it was a great deal.

What size and color (white, silver...) of umbrellas and how far(what ASA) can you place the from your subject?

I almost bought it but ended up putting my own together because I wanted larger umbrellas.
Geez, I guess I don't post fast enough.

adamjt how have you used that kit.....the reason i ask is because i am going to be shooting portraits on location and i might need to shoot the entire scene of a room. I saw that its good for head shots, but do you feel that they provide much more light than that? I have one 580ex but am going to buy one more and maybe a 430ex for the background.......if by chance you have sample pics of how you used them, i would really appreciate seeing them. thanks

Did you check www.amvona.com? Seems the set I used a while back (belong to a friend) came from them...

One more question to add to this thread: could you use PocketWizards with the above bracket? Or would you need a clamp/bracket that includes a sync cord input and active hot shoe?? I'm still trying to piece together this maze of lighting accessories ;-)

the local camera shop to me carries a decent kit with stand, reversible umbrella, and shoe mount for $140 cdn. in the states it's probably a $60 kit.
