Wow so today was my first real taste at studio photography. I used a large format camera along with some mole-richardson tungsten lights. I was required to do two different assignments where we had a paper clock taped to the wall and I had to focus just the 12 and 6, and then just the 1 and 7. It was fun tilting and swinging the camera to achieve the requirement.
And for the second we used just a key light and then a key with a fill right above the camera with a scrim to diffuse the light and wow... I am totally impressed with my results.
I learned to process my own 4x5 negatives today... Pretty similar to 35mm I suppose lol.
I dont have much experience with strobes but so far, continuous lighting is really neat. Yeah it gets a bit warm working with after a bit but it definitely gives you the control needed and/or wanted.
After reading that big long post about continuous lighting vs strobes and whanot, I have learned a lot.
I am about ready to invest in some lighting equipment but I dont quite know yet what I want to get. My school uses mole-richardsons but is there something else that is better?
