thats the best detail i've seen so far of a Kalaphorura burmeisteri, well done sir! Havent seen the other before though I have posted the spotted variety.

Nice shots Maarten, I'm not sure what either of these insects are though, is the first one some type of Springtail?

Thank you Brian, RM, HF and Dave. With the burmeisteri the trick is to achieve a level point of shooting or even better shooting slightly up at it. This one was just trying to climb around a lump of damp soil so I could just about get the angle. If you shoot them from above the delicate structure of the legs is hidden.
Yes Dave, it is am blind member of the springtails which has lost the ability to jump. Not much use anyway if you are blind and live under a rock! I am always surprised how beautifully white and clean they are, whilst crawling around in muddy earth.
