And one more anthropod, this is the Campodea fragilis. It is a blind member of the Diplura order with beadlike antennae which are usually shorter than the cerci (the multi segmented tails)
Not a fantastic shot but I had never seen one of these before.

What an odd bug :) and great find- is this from leaf litter or underneath something ?

Underneath a large stone Brian. The same kind of spot where you would find the Kalaphorura burmeisteri and woodlice. They run around like maniacs when you lift the stone. Difficult to shoot but easy to ID because of their distict shape.

very nice capture, sharp and well lit. I'm guessing you have George McGavin's Insects & Spiders pub. by DK? Handy little guide as it includes a selection of these other Arthropods.
Your shot is miles better than theirs and as a publisher they are fussy about images they use.

Well spotted Racketman, and thank you.
It is a nice little publication because it gives some background info. I seem to resort to it more often than the Collins, Complete British Insects by Michael Chinery.

Good shot Maarten, one day I'll go hunting for this sort of thing!
