Hi,
I just sold an 80-200 to a serviceman stationed in South Korea. Anyone have experience with selling camera stuff to foreign countries? I understand I need to fill out a customs declaration form. Anyone have any tips? Thanks for your help

Don't you just ship to a military APO office in San Francisco? It's like shipping anywhere in the U.S.

Hmmmm, is that how it works? I've never done this before so don't know how it works. So it goes to California and then they ship overseas?

APO is pretty much the same cost and procedure as standard shipping within the country. The USPS takes it to a base and then the military takes it from there. Downside is there's no Delivery Confirmation but if they're dishonest you can contact their CO to make 'em do 1,500 pushups before dawn. :)

Cool, that sounds relatively simple. May make them do the pushups anyways just to keep them in shape :)

When i ship to my family overseas, I still have to fill out a customs form, but the shipping is the same as it is here. (they're stationed in Italy)

AFAIK as long as you ship to an APO/AFO address, mail is treated as domestic US Mail. At least it was that way when I was stationed overseas during my military career. Agree with the above comments about tracking info. Most likely the post office will tell if you need a declarations form or not when you present the package.

We have a US Zip code, and our city will be "APO" and the state will be "AP"
The only catch is the customs form... what is the item? what is the value?
It costs the same as shipping to san fransisco in nearly every case. Being on a military installation over here is in many ways like being in any particular town in the states. we have stores, video rentals, gas stations, movie theatres, golf courses, restaurants, and Post offices...
-Dont be scared, ship to a military member today! lolz...
It is hard to get good stuff over here.

There are varying restrictions/requirements for each APO/FPO address. The only way to get accurate information is to visit your local post office with the address in question. They will then let you know if you need to fill out any special paperwork or if it will be treated as regular domestic mail.
