Hi,

Any one know a good place from where I can take a good night line shots of Dallas and Dallas downtown.

I have access to some wide angle lenses and also 10D & EOS - 3.

Really appreciate your help.

Thank you.

I have always thought that the intersection of Royal/Abrams has a great view of downtown at night, especially from a little north of the intersection near the Starbucks.

Another great place for viewing downtown over White Rock Lake is at the intersection of Van Dyke and Peavy (Mockingbird) just east of Buckner. Its on a hill, and overlooks the lake and downtown.

From the south, I like the view driving north on I45. The problem here is that the far away shots have light posts in the way, but you might get some cool shots at night. If there was somewhere to stop while driving on the I45 overpasses as you enter downtown, you could get some great shots with a wide angle lens.

Please post if you get some good shots!

One More: take Inwood Rd. south from I35, and it goes over the Trinity River and becomes Hampton. As you are going across the river, there is a place you can pull off the road and get some great shots of downtown with nothing but green between you and it. Its an interesting view from the west that many people never see.

OK, one more. If you know someone with a membership, go to the Park Cities Club on Sherry Ln. near Preston/NW Hwy. Its on the 10th or 12th floor, with a great view of downtown with Highland Park/Turtle Creek trees in the foreground. Plus the club is nice with great food...

Wow thats really great.

You know dallas quite well and I am sure you have taken some good shots.

I will explore these routes and places and will post the shots soon.

North of 635, south of Spring Valley, between Coit and Hillcrest.

I actually have thought many times about taking photos of downtown, but have never stopped. My job takes me all over the metroplex, so I always see these great shots, but never have time to stop and take them!

How about you?

I live in Irving.

I always like the shot when you come back from Houston and just entering the downtown the buildings looks awesome, But no one can stope there since it is a flyover.

My job do not demand much of travelling but quite busy in the office, but thanks again for yoru suggestions and I will let you know how the pictures will come.

I have a 10D and planning for a EOS -3.

One of my frind has some good lenses, so I am planning to take some nights shots of Dallas with him in couple of weeks.

great talking to you.

Yes, the shots from I45 I mentioned are the ones you are talking about coming back from Houston. It is gorgeous at sunset - one day I'm going to find somewhere to stop on that flyover!
