Just thought I'd let folks who own a PC with an ATI based video card know that using the latest Catalyst 4.2 drivers can cause problems with your color management. If you have a program (like Adobe Gamma) that loads and applies your monitor profile at boot up please be aware that the latest drivers from ATI may have broken your systems ability to apply custom gamma settings. Posts regarding this are cropping up in various places, primarily on gaming & video card related sites. Spread the word.
Here is where you can go to provide driver feedback:

ATI Catalyst driver version 4.3 was just released and for those wondering, yes the gamma problem is still present. Please note that this won't just affect users of Adobe Gamma, but any product that uses a loader program to alter gamma settings at boot up (Colorvision, Gretag Macbeth, Monaco, BasICColor, etc). It also appears, from reading ATI's list of fixes and known issues, that they don't seem to be aware of this problem. So please click the link in my original post and give them your feedback.

Thanks for the heads up...
Years ago,. ATI was infamous for very bad driver support.. the had cleaned up there act with there recent dive into competing directly with Nvidia in the gaming world.. I wonder if this means they are focusing a little too much on that aspect,. and not paying too much attention to the non-gaming needs?

i used to have a 9700 AIW card. it blew for photo editing. i now only
have one word for ati, and that would be MATROX!!!

Have you seen a Matrox side by side in comparison?
The difference is Unreal

evilenglishman,
yes, it's possible i had a bad one. it worked great(i thought), until i
tried to do some editing with it. it would not show proper exposure,
always too dark. i tried all sorts of calibration, even a spyder. nothing
worked. for $500 bucks i was really pi$$ed off. i bought a matrox P750,
and now i'm no longer throwing things around the house! :D CDS is right
Matrox is unbelieveable, and it was only $300.
thanks,
eric1

Sorry for digging up an old post...
Anyone know how this would affect the use of BasICCcolor Display 4 with a Radeon 8500 on a Mac?
I've tried it, and ran into some strange problems. (PSCS2 using the generated display profile, but Safari and screenshots not)
The OP seems long gone, maybe someone else knows?
