Not nessesarily your house and street but the surrounding district maybe?
City scenes (at night maybe?),landscape,whatever

In truth it's pretty nice even though it's an ancient farmhouse.Cool garden huh?The purple stuff is a single boganvillia vine that's completely covered a fig tree and is having a serious go at the bunya pines, lol.

I live very close to here. When I'm not out fishing off the S. Florida coast, you will find my family and I here on the weekends ridding our bikes and taking pictures. This is a shot of the famous "River of Grass" that is the Florida Everglades. A truly unique habitat.

Taken as I flew over my town in Minnesota into Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. Taken with 70-200 f/4 through a hazy window. My GPS had the plane at about 4000 ft and the track was about 2 miles north of the house (indicated by the arrow). This is a slight crop of the full size image. Printed at 8x10 you can see footprints in the snow and make out individual shrubs.

Ok so it is not on the coast, nor in the mountains. No pond in the back yard unless you figure the bird bath is a pond. Last time I chercked there were no bass in the "pond" either. Neighbours are close but not much of a bother (they will have nothing to do with the crazy man next door). However Montreal is an island and this is the West Island section.

Those are fantastic shots, Laz. I particularly like the moon over Baltimore. Very nice shot.
I wish I had had my 10D (or any camera) when I used to have a boat up in Cleveland. Your picture reminds me of the incredible, almost surreal views of the city I used to get from Lake Erie at night.

Thanks Tom. I have yet to take the kayak downtown. I see people out there all the time when it's warm though. I'll have to do it so I can snag a nice shot of the skyline from an otherwise unavailable perspective.
I have to admit that I took the shot of the moon from the parking lot at work one evening, and then placed it into the night shot of the city to "spruce it up".
You know, when I think about it... about 99% of the pictures in my gallery are from right around here. I don't travel very often (except in the summer), and when I do, it's only either to the beach in Delaware (most often), or the shenandoah mountains in Virginia... which is where I'll be from the 13th-20th of March :D

Phil, the cannolli's here are served with kiwis on them (I am not kidding)! It's positively un-American :)
Thier called "Kiwi Fruit", a Kiwi is a small flightless bird that apprently tastes like chicken.

Well heres the view out my window:
Peters place is roughly along that line of sight somewhere.
You're not kidding, you must be real close! Some trees block the view of the 'big Mt Wellington', but I can see the sky tower, and One (none) Tree Hill.
By the way, people often hassle Aucklanders about calling all those little hills or pimples over the city mountains, as most can be climbed as a leisurely walk, but I remind people the definition of a mountain:
1. An area of land that stands up from the surrounding countryside by at least 300m (some say 1000m)
2. A volcano
Some say we are crazy living here as all those little mountains fit in to the second definition, there is one in Moppies pic, the flat topped thing in the left of the image.

Hmmm, kiwi, better than Pukeko, apprantly in order to cook pukeko, you get a pot, fill it with water, chuck in a old boot and the pukeko, cook for three days, then eat the boot.
I actually got to hadle a kiwi (the bird that is) first hand a few months back, a guy was touring trade shows with a one legged kiwi he resuced from the wild, it was completly tame. Funny most New Zealander's or 'kiwis' have never seen one for real, let alone handled one.
As for the kiwi fruit, grows like a weed in our climate, infact in is a weed when the vine gets into native bush, but I digress...

Thanks for the correction, Moppie......Big difference between the 2.....Just when I thought a kiwi fruit could be the worst thing on a cannolli, it turns out a kiwi bird would be worse!:p

I actually lived in Southern California for a few years when I first got married, and it took me about 3 months to find whole milk mozzarella cheese and Boar's Head Cold Cuts. Never did find any good pizza. We lived right on the Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach for a while. I couldn't believe someone could get sick of waking up on the beach every day, but apparently there is one, and I married her.
I know what you mean, I was homesick for the first 2 years! Things are a little slower in SD than Huntington Beach....5 years for Polly-O, Boars Head and pizza. Still can't find a chinese restaurant that knows what duck sauce is
Oh well, the weather's worth the sacrifice!

In more ways than one, Kiwi is also a colquial term for New Zealander :D

Im literaly up the hill from the movie theater, just off highland park drive right at the top.
I think there are 21? volcanic cones in Auckland, and maybe 5? calderas.
I know Auckland has the highest density of volcanic cones and craters in the world, the largest of which was active less than a thousand years ago.
Not a bad spot to put 1/3 of your countrys population, a large chunk of your primary industry and at least half of your comerical organisations.
But then the other half are all in Wellington. Which sits squarly on top of a major, active, fault line. Along with the government and a major transport link with the other half of the country.

All Canandians are 'interesting', with some that speak as though they come from just over our channel and don't appreciate the English either.
I like UKer's. Nice bunch of bloaks. The builders of West Edmonton Mall, also built the Mall of America and a mall near D.C. They keep WEM the biggest because they live in Edmonton. (not sure why, its a nice place to live but if I had billions I'd have a Mansion in the Rockie Mountains!)

This is our closest business district for Tin Cup . . . the store down at Henry. It is only open during the good months however. June, July and August for the most part. But we are glad to have it nonetheless. We see a lot of them weekend Harley folks through here during that time as well. They look good in their leathers and such, lol. ;)

Hi
why not put it in your Profile
When I saw the thread title, I was going to say the same thing.
It's easy.....click on 'User CP' in the blue menu bar above. Under 'Control Panel,' click 'Edit Profile.'
Scroll down to 'Location' (Where you live). Type in the information, and click 'Save Changes' at the bottom of the page.
This really is useful information, and the more specific you can be the better. On the other hand, if you feel you don't want that much information being made public, at least list your country. Sometimes just that information can help clarify a comment. Remember, Canon has seen fit to give different names to the same camera depending where in the world they sell it. If nothing else, it puts us all on the same page.

Obviously its a good thing that we update our profile with our location.
But it would really be nice if the location could be included in the list when viewing the member list. Currently the only way to see the location is in the profile or the posts.
Couldn't it be nice if we could see the location in the list maybe even search for members in certain locations?
Pekka, what do You say, is it possible thorugh template modification or is a code modification required?

I'll second that if possible. Assuming that one leaves for a trip in a certain area, the possibility of contacting fellow POTNers that live in the area can be useful (of course, if one doe not want to be bothered, just omit the location from the profile...)
