All,
I "desperately" want your reaction on these shots. The brook is so lovely, and the curves make such a great topic, so I was so happy I found the location, but now somehow I am not to happy with the results. Unfortunately I cannot pinpoint the reason why. What do you think? I will definitely return to the place sometime, and it would be great if then I have some hints for improvement.

The photos look like you are shooting down from a higher elevation, and too much foreground that is devoid of anything interesting, the stream is nice but somehow the angle in which the short was taken didn't quite cut it is how I feel. You are trying to show the windiness of the stream but somehow its over done. Perhaps you can shoot from either left or right of the picture and put that lil bridge in the picture or the boy on the bridge as the subject. 2 cents from an amateur heheheh

I would be closer, down on the edge of the creek, perhaps on the right hand side where the creek makes its first big turn. It would also help tremendously in the second picture if the bridge, or at least the person on the bridge, was in the sun.
The light in the picture is wonderful, however. I love the green color.

I agree with the perspective comment - looks like you are too elevated - maybe get closer and focusing on the bridge might be interesting. And I don't know what it is about your pics, but you may want to try it in black and white - not sure it will work as well as the tree, but just a thought.
Personally, I like the color ones and think both pics are really good. Only thing I find distracting is the elevation.

Maybe pull a little haze from the air and pop the image.
