It happened during last weekends wedding, anyone know how to get it into the right place without breaking anything? PS yeah I know the photos are pretty poor :p
(image removed so as not to advertise my stupidity too widely ;) )

Take lens off your camera, and slide it on thru.

LMAO!!!
It's panic mate. Panic causes your brain to mess up the simplest things. I have made fantastic messes out of a relatively easy task because something went wrong and I freaked out... trying to correct my error and I just made it worse.
You'd of thought of it if you were able to just walk away from it for a few minutes and settle your thoughts down. Don't beat yourself up too much.

Heh, it happened during a wedding late at the reception, I couldn't see so threw it in my bag. At home my logic was if it went on that way it should be able to come off that way. Never even occurred to me to take it the other way.

I must be the biggest idiot down here, but I still can't figure out how the hood 'slipped'..?
I can't think a way how a hood could end up on the wrong end of a lens? I must be missing something here...
Hints, please! :D

so you didn't try the butter method, or the freezing method to shrink the lens to get the filter off before asking here? tsk tsk :)
(brandon thinks of when he was a kid and his brother got his head stuck in the railing and we had to grease him up to get him out)

I must have put it on partly sideways I guess. It was dark and during a wedding, I hadn't been drinking anything except diet coke then or when I was trying to fix it! I just assumed since it went on that way that's the way it went off... stupid.

Hood, not filter!
