I created many groups and I noticed that once you are on one of the ground index page, there is no link back the to main index page. How do I add a link so that people can return to the main exhibition index? Using the back button is not convenient if you have view 50 photos from one of the group. I have the header but I would like to have a link back to the main index the same way there are links to the groups.
Do I need to edit the code somewhere or is that an option that I have missed?
exemple, from this page I would like to go to the Exhibition index without clicking on the link in the header (I may not keep the header, not sure).

cross-server image retrieval: yes (any big size photo can be on any server = server load/bandwidth distribution)"
How do I do this? I see only option to Upload to database with a browse button which fetch a photo from my harddisk or the Upload manual which you must have the photo on your FTP before. How can I add photos that are on another server?

if you've read and been able to keep up with the notes and messages, manual uploads are currently disabled in v1.5RC2 so you'll have to use the ftp method... in the ftp server setup, you defined the servers and their info for each of the sites where you will have pictures stored... then when you do the upload, you'll choose what server the pictures will go to and that's how its done...

Thanks, I have read the doc and I am new to this software, so no I have not follow up.
I was hoping to use Pbase to store the photos but since I don't have an FTP access there, I guess that pretty much settle the case. Most online image storage services will not allow you to do this and if they allow ftp, they don't allow direct linking. so hmm not sure how I could use this to save bandwidth since my images hosting is Pbase.com
Do you know of one that I could use for this purpose?

If the server does not allow direct linking you can always try a feature in EE that makes it download each image using ftp before displaying it from temp folder. With this method you would only have to serve thumbs from your own machine.
You can activate the feature (when ftp works and paths are set) in misc settings: "Localize normal images". The feature may be slow from external servers, it is ment initially for obfuscating file paths.

My problem is that I can't upload via FTP to pbase. It is only a web based upload system.
also how do I create a link back to the main gallery in the group page? I created some groups but when I enter the gallery in that group, there is no way to access the other groups or the main page without having to click on the top navigation bar. If I remove that navigation bar, I have no more way to reach the main index except by typing it or bookmark. Is there a way to add this?
thanks.

Daniella, what web host are you using? Can you request them for better upgrades? If you are not paying more than say, http://www.lunarpages.com , you might want to switch host. The reason I'm saying this is because I noticed that you don't have ImageMagicks either. It makes your workflow significantly easier if you can use a FTP tool as well as things like ImageMagicks...
Just my $0.02,

my apologies... i should have been more specific about reading the messages in here covering the days since v1.5beta has been available... sorry 'bout that... there's a wealth of info in these message areas... yes, they aren't the same as reading docs on a product but they do have many answers, fixes and workarounds in them...

sorry, i'm not familiar with them... about the only thing i could suggest is that there are many hosting companies that are available for low rates that have many more resources available than what you're used to... since i run my own servers, though, i'm not fully aware of what's out there other than there are quite a few inexpensive ones...
