Anybody uses Lunarpages to host EEgallery?
They have ImageMagick installed, plenty of storage (800 mb) and a low price tag of 8$/month.

Yeah - I use lunarpages and their support is first rate, and its very good value for money too. Nothing but praise for them.

I've moved my site to lunarpages and am certainly impressed with the service. However, my site runs very slowly compared to before and also compared to other EE galleries hosted there, eg www.soocool.com and www.davidnolla.com.

I've just emailed their support to see if they can explain but I was wondering if it was down to the hosting server (I'm on Valina).

What server are other EE/lunarpages customers on?

Regards,
Ewan

Have you tried to defragment/repair the database?
The gallery is slow, yes.

I have recently (last week) transferred my site to Lunarpages.com (I am now on the Valina server). Great price/quality ratio and finally EE works with all options.
I am also very pleased with their customer support. After requesting my new account, I received all account details of my already activated account within 10 minutes. Firstly I was on a server not supporting ImageMagick (jupiter), but after contacting Customer Support my account was moved to the valina server within half an hour.

Regarding the perceived speed of the valina server: before my site was hosted at a Dutch hosting provider, now internet traffic from my PC to my new site has to cross the Atlantic. So of course, the new hosting solution from my PC is slower than the previous one (however, not that much), and the comparison is not really fair.
Only: no Dutch hosting provider exists which can offer the amount of webspace and options Lunarpages delivers, unless you are willing to pay over US$80 per month.

Overall: so far I am a very content user of Lunarpages.

Thanks, Tomka. I've tried that and it is flying now.

That was easy :)
