He's my go Dave, might be a little dark for your taste though. I set the levels and added a bit of curves then used a bit of vignette.

very good , like it , what can i do to the shadow behind hi on the right , only just learning to use cs2 , so all help and advice much apppreciated

You could use the clone brush and clone it out.

I would recommend fixing the crooked grin and the shirt collar on his left shoulder(photo right), adding a multiply layer and reducing the opacity to get the toning a little better, or if it was ahot in RAW just drop the exposure a little.

How in the heck did you fix the crooked grin? Gee.. some people can do amazing things with photoshop that I don't think I will ever know how to do!

wow , yeh tell me how you fixed the grin , some people do the most amazing things with cs , got to keep playing and learning.

Hi, don't mind if I give this a try:
1) sharpened eye
2) select bg using magic wand, feather 1px, used levels black point to get bg black
3) add gradient fill layer, copied layer mask from #2
4) curves layer to pull down exposure wee bit
5) crop off empty space above head
Brickbats highly appreciated :) wanna learn how to fix crooked grin too!

Am i the only one that thinks fixing the crooked grin has made his nose look lop sided?

yeh your right , does look a little wonky , but then if someone straightens his nose then his eyes will need doing haha , im made up with all the alterations people are doing , i learning a lot here ,the high key one looks great , they all look great , thanks everyone

I like it right out of the camera, but for fun, I layered the High Key version on top of the original - blend mode Overlay, 65% opacity.
Everyone else was playing, so why not me.

well I had though of just giving a few minor touch ups, but ended up with something bit more creative :)
