In misc settings in the section "Photo page settings" the option "Multiarea navigation" for clicking on a photo does not seem to have any effect?
What exactly is this option supposed to do?

I think you need to select
Use EE substitute... in "Link to front page" for that feature to work. at the bottom of the misc settings.

I am not sure I understand. That field is a free text field. Do You mean I should enter "EE Substitute" instead of "GALLERY INDEX"?

I got the Multiarea navigation to work by selecting option 3 in global settings for "When image file is not found" however it is only working partially.
It works on some photos and not on other photos. See this test gallery: http://www.klein-jensen.dk/ee/list.php?exhibition=3
It works on the first 3 photos which a scanned photos but it does not work on the rest which are from EOS 300D.

This is a known problem with images that contain EXIF data - PHP can't get their size data. Set remove profiles on in resize methods and image map will be created.

I just tried that but it still don't work. I have checked the images in the normal folder and they do not have exif data in them. In the UPLOAD folder they have but when they have been copied and resized they do not have exif info??

If I remove the exif data by using PS CS save for web it works. So it looks like there is an issue with the "Remove profile" in RC2.

Yes they did, I downloaded one lion photo to fix the exif bug and the photo had all exif and xmp data intact. You must have incorrect profile command selection there.
Go to Graphics Modules editor and do the resize test. If you get a thumb which is about 20KB then try other profile commands until you get ca. 3KB thumb.

This one does not have exif info after the resize (in upload folder it has): http://www.klein-jensen.dk/ee/photo.php?photo=201
For this one I removed the EXIF info with PS: http://www.klein-jensen.dk/ee/photo.php?photo=199

The resize method I use is the standard that was named "just testing" I have renamed it and changed the size to 640. Following options are set:
graphics engine: IMAGEMAGICK
resize by: longest edge
value: 640
additional editor menu text: Normal
Sharpen: yes 1 0.3 0.2 0.5
watermark: not selected
remove profile: selected
extracommand: nothing entered
jpeg comp 74%
Preview results in 68k image.

Please go to the Graphics Modules editor and check the profiles settings in there. Profile on/off command functionality depends on settings on Graphics Modules editor.

Do You mean this option "Select Imagemagick's profile removal command type" ?
It is set to the default value +profile '*'
Following graphic modules are active and working:
Imagemagick
GD1
EXIF (PHP module)
IPTC

I found a way to solve my problem - I think.
- leave the exif information and upload / resize
- run JPG cleaner on the files in the normal folder
Then I got the exif data in the db and the Multiarea navigation works fine.
JPG cleaner can be downloaded here: http://www.rainbow-software.org/

Yes, but please do the following once for me:
on graphic modules page
click "CHANGE TO DIRECTORY 'UPLOAD'"
select a photo which has all the exif data
select ImageMagick from menu
press "DO THE SELECTED TEST'
See size of thumbnail created.
If it is more than 5KB, go to bottom of the page and select SOME OTHER selection from "Select Imagemagick's profile removal command type" dropdown, there are three choices.
Go to step 2 until you get small thumbnail and you've found correct profile command.
After you've found the correct profile command using above method, the 'remove profiles' selection will work on resize methods.

Option no 1 and 2 result in a thumbnail of 3 kb so these 2 works.
Perhaps this is a platform issue. I run on windows so it seems that the syntax for the profile command is different on unix and windows.
Maybe a small note in the faq page about this.
Anyway it works now, thank You for the patience and the excellent work You are doing with the gallery :D
