These are the hand me down skates that my son is starting to learn to skate in. I tried various shots but thought this one looked the best. It could really use a good sharpening.

First I would like to thank each of you that submited an entry and congratulate you on all having legal photos that fit the rules. Well done.
You sure make it hard on a guy, there is not a bad shot in the bunch. Some that at first glance don't jump out at me, keep looking better the more I look into the details.
jkdlee - Rusty Sign - Cool shot. The colors look great to me even on an LCD. My only problem with it is the lettering looks strange. I think it is because it's sharpened a little to much. In your EXIF data you might want to include your camera model, I see it in your signature but some people turn off signatures and won't be able to see it.
sw1977 - Rusty and Beauty - Good sharp shot under very little light. At first I didn't care for the photo but the more I look at it the more things I find to like in it.
Paul B - Rebirth of Garden Snippers - Great idea but for me the background hurts the composition, it is just too bright for me.
TMR Design - Antique Farm Machinery - Good shot under harsh lighting, but the composition is too busy for my taste.
Edd S - Rust is Nothing to Smile About - I like it a lot except for the power lines and the building is kind of distracting. A shot of the tank with just the beautiful blue sky behind it would have been a killer but the background in real life is probaly even worse from another angle.
gaban 06 - rusted pliers - At first glace it looks soft to me but as I get into it more the sharper things look. The flash probably hurts it the most for me though.
O_T - WD40? - What's not to like? Sharp, clear and well composed.
mishnogram - Forgotten... - Well exposed shot but the composition hurts it for me. It might be my lack of familiarity with ice skating.
boomer3297 - Ford Has Seen Better Days - That old truck could tell some stories. I love an old truck but the background on your shot really hurts it.
stanley_pope - Waiting for spring - Nicely done, it makes me want to see the shot through the grate with the snow as a background though.
Here is MY OPINION of the winners, you will probably pick others I know my wife did.
First - O_T - WD40? - The cob web did it for me. How long did it take you to put it there?
Second - boomer3297 - Ford Has Seen Better Days - I like the truck more than I dislike the background.
Third - Edd S - Rust is Nothing to Smile About - Here again the tank and the blue sky beat out the distractions.
Honorable Mention
jkdlee - Rusty Sign
stanley_pope - Waiting for spring
Thanks again everyone you did some nice work this week.
Ok O_T lay a good one on us, our shutter fingers are itching.

Spur,
Thanks for the placing in this contest... I would of picked the winner as you did! I loved this truck for this contest the minute I saw it. I too wish the background was better but I think if the truck was moved it would disintegrate. In fact there was no bottom to the bed of the truck, completely rusted.
Thanks again and nice job by everyone

Thank you folks for the kind words, and to you spur for choosing the photo. Snooping around a barnyard offered me too much rust, and I chose the bolt out of about 50 images.
Great images from all that entered as well.
I do have a question. Are we supposed to take it upon ourselves to update the placement thread for our challenges? I notice it hasn't been updated in a couple of months.

Somebody probably needs to send a private message to Diminished29 and volunteer to take over the tabulating.

Edd S, I have done that and got no reply from him. What if the winner just updated his or her own contest? That might be easier than assigning one person to do it. Just a thought.

Congrats to the winner. Well done!!
It was maybe a difficult issue this time. It is difficult to find and accomodate rust into something beautiful.

great challege, really made me think. Thanks for the feedback Spur, the shot didn't do much for me either but its snowy here right now and the rust is covered up. Congrats to the winners and hope to see more great shots in the next challenge.
