I have an XT and I would like to connect an off camera flash / studio strobes to it. I'm looking for an adapter that will enable me to connect the PC sync cable.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Something like this will work fine:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=89979&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

I have one of those and it does work but it is a loose fit and I'm not crazy about it.

I ended up getting one of these:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=89977&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

And it's great. Well made, can receive and spit sync back out to a PC jack and to the hot shoe on top. I like that it has the ring to tighten it down. I recommend it highly even though it's a few dollars more than the others. I've also tried the ones on ebay for $3 and I do not recommend those either unless your budget is so tight that it will truly matter in the end.

Is there a male or a female PC cable connetor on those? Or both?

What is the correct term for this thing?

Are you looking for an adapter to put on your camera so you can connect a PC cord to it? Or are you looking for an adapter to put on a flash hotshoe foot so you can connect a PC cord to it. Generally they have both at Wolf and Ritz for less than $15.00.

I suspect you are looking for an adapter to connect your camera's hotshoe to a PC cord. If that is the case, the info cited in the links above are not on target as they are for connecting a flash's hotshoe foot to a PC connection.

Enjoy! Lon

In general a unit like the inexpensive one cited above is available at Wolf or Ritz (under their own name). They cost about $15.00 or so.

Well the XT doesn't have a PC cord connector so I assume the only way to trigger an external flash is by conneting an adapter to the hotshoe.

You want a camera hotshoe to PC connector. They generally have those at Ritz and Wolf for $15.00 or so.

The links above are not for the correct adapters, so ignore the links.

Lon,

I have both of those adapters and I use the second one all the time to do exactly what the OP wants to do. It absolutely does what he needs.

I bought this kit from Ebay, mainly for the short cold shoe. The hot shoe adapter turns out pretty nifty. It has 2 male PC ports, one female port, and a test fire button. combine with the cold shoe, the adapter could be used on or off the camera. All for under $10.

Wein SafeSync. (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=245292&is=REG&addedTroughType=search)

It costs more than a standard hotshoe adapter, but the voltage regulator will save your camera's flash circuits.

Lotto, thanks for the link

That is one of the most honest shipping charge I've seen on eBay.

I'm still figuring out if it need it though :)
