Using Firefox 2.0.0.1
I can not for the life of me find a setting in the browser options to prevent it from automatically scaling images to a smaller size to fit the current window.
Previous versions of firefox never did this to me,. but now if I view an image larger than the current window, it simply shrinks it to fit, and I can;t turn this off.
I hate this!
Any he;p would be most certainly appreciated.

I've always had this happen with Firefox, and I am currently on 1.5.0.9.
Images larger than my browser are scaled to fit, and I have to click inside the image to flip between 100% and scaled down.

Ahh, just click the image. the problem with this "auto feature" is you may never know the image is being scaled :(
I know in IE you have to (and can) turn the feature off, but I can't find that option in this version of firefox.
I THINK I had it turned off in previous versions.. but maybe I'm dreaming that?

In 1.5.0.9 you can disable it through about:config with the browser.enable_automatic_image_resizing preference. Is that preference there in 2.0?

Mozdev tells me to go to the advanced javascript on the content tab of options and disable the resize option.

I don't see anything about resizing images there...only windows.

Nope..
That javascript option does not effect the images.
It should be under the "View" tab,. but "Options" would do as well. It just isn't there.
Mozdev may come up with a registry tweek or start up script.

You may have to close all your browser windows first (probably obvious but worth mentioning for others who stumble across this thread).
What happened with the about:config page? All the tweak options are on there.

I just tried the about:config tweak that I posted above in 2.0 as well as 1.5 and it works fine in both.

Phil, your right, that was it. I just had to "Re-Geek" enough to remember what the heck you were talking about
For others reading, to get to these tweeks you simply type "about:config" into the browser window. then you get tons of additional settings.
Still, I find it odd that we need to "hack" to get this simple thing done.
thanks Phil!!!

Sorry, I should have been more clear about that. The about:config page in Firefox is very powerful for tweaking your settings. There are tons of options there but they are very poorly organized.

I have noticed that certain forums will scale down an image automatically.
I just did the above tweak and the images are still scaled down on one of the car sites I am on.
On the offtopic and computer forums I am on, the images stay the actual size, this was before doing the tweak.
all the sites I am on use vBulletin like here, so there is probably a setting to scale images to fit into the forums width.

I just did the above tweak and the images are still scaled down on one of the car sites I am on. I believe this image sizing tweak only works if the image is not on a web page, and the URL is a direct link to the image alone.

Right, how we set our browsers can not override how the Web page is set up to display.
