While the missile is still in the cell, the booster flames have to go somewhere. The missile is just on the other side of that flame wall, just emerging from the cell. Instead of taking the flames inside the ship, the launcher directs it up beside the missile. I wish I had a picture at a different angle to show you. I do have a video of this process, I'll PM you if I can find it.

'Best' is an objective and relational term. These aren't my best photos for techs, but are some of my favorites, because they encouraged me to learn more.
The Hot Springs was taken in 2002 with my little 2 pixel P/S. It got me excited about taking photos again.
The creek in the Netherlands, was from 2004 when I had upgraded to a 4 pixel P/S.

I agree, right down to the thumbs up!!
Funny that you mention that, I had one he flipped me off I was like what the heck is that for. Not sure if he was joking around or what. Oh well at least he gave me appropriate gesture.

I shot this for my squadron a couple months ago. I wish I could find the shots I have of the load competitions I shot when I was at Elmendorf in Load Barn.

1st on is the flightline of course then one cool perks of the job got to fly KC-10 to Las Vegas. I got to go in the back and watch some refueling action. Currently right now though I don't work on the flightline I work in the tool crib currently which is a nice change of pace.
Thank you for serving...! ;)
