I might be shooting a concert and a few studio shots for a local band. I was thinking about picking up the 85mm f/1.2 for the job, would this fit the bill for an indoor low lighting concert? Also I was wondering what type of filter you would suggest putting on it, if any.
Thanks.

I suppose it seems a little long, depends on where you position yourself. Send if you can find DwightMcann here (spelling?), he shoots tons of concerts.
Personally I wouldn't disgrace that chunk of beautiful glass with a filter :D

Thanks for the comment. I was also thinking about the 50mm f/1.2 or the 35mm f/1.4 but I heard so many good reviews about the 85mm as a portrait lens, I figured I might as well consider it.

The 85 was made for exactly this sort of work. I say go for it.

Agreed. I'd go with a hood and no fliter though. But if you do decide on a filter, get a good one.

Definitely no filter.
