Tonight i shot a battle of the bands, nearly 200 pictures, many of which i had not noticed my dial was moved to manual mode rather then AV...so some of the "good" pictures i took were a tad blured.
Not to mention i always manage to hit the other few buttons on accident.
Why cant the put a lock on the camera so when you have everything set up right you dont have to worry about it.

Because then this post would be about you moaning about that stupid lock button & how difficult it is to find when you really need to change the settings quickly.
Seriously though, I have never had that problem, perhaps your'e not holding the camera correctly & that's why your fingers are always inadvertantly adjusting the setting for you. :?

I think part of it is the size of my hands vs the size of the body vs the weight of the flash/lens etc. I may have less to worry about when i get a battery grip.

Seriously, the grip/hand strap on my 10D really helps. I've got fairly big hands so being able to grip a little further down the right side of the camera makes things easier.

I've had the same problem-i'm so used to using the older type EOS dial thet i just turn on the digital and go for it!
With digital it don't matter alot as i see the mistake quickly...but for the wedding i did recently(my first) i set the camera to P and didn,t dare change it in case i forgot i'd done so!

The A1 (film SLR) has this, and it is great! It is a sliding lock that covers the edge of the dial so you can't turn it.
I had the same problem with my G3 and, to a lesser extent with my Drebel.
I wish Canon would provide a lock of some sort - with all the buttons and menus it would be nice to know that when you 'boot it up' it is coming up the way you want it. 8)

The buttons have no capacity to learn therefore they can not be stupid.. The photographer however.........?

Photographer: Honey where's my 12 gauge shotgun? I thought it was here in the, oh wait here it is.
Wife: Is it loaded? Be careful getting it down off the shelf.
Photographer: Yes it is loaded but the safety is on. What kind of moron do you think I am dear?

There's a bright side to that. "Honey" will sue the gun manufacturer and become a rich widow! Then she'll probably marry her lawyer who wants to get the other 60% of the settlement. Then he'll retire & there will be one less lawyer in business who doesn't understand the concept of personal responsibility.
Ya think? (I've been known to be wrong before...)
