My school held it's anual Battle of the Bands tonight, i think it was the largest gathering i've ever seen, i'd guess maybe 800 people? maybe more.
Few people had their point and shoots, but my camera seemed to be all i needed to get where i wanted and when i wanted. "back stage passes" were required to go...ironicly, back stage :-D. I just walked in no one said a word, when i wanted to get next to the stage, people moved and made room for me to do what i needed to do.
Aside from that...power of uneducated people  i had a blast.
People were for the most part more then willing to allow me to take their pictures.
As i was walking around i realized that i was doing something that no one else was. And (soon, still downloading the pictures) i'll share these with my school. Thats what it's all about...as i say, capturing life a fraction at a second at a time.
I've long had a desire to be a photographer (strctly as a hobby, especially at this point) but it was mainly tihs forum that rekindled my desire. So thanks. I'll be posting pictures soon...

Just remember us when you make it big, ok?
Isn't it funny how a pro looking camera can get you where you might not supposed to be going?

There were a few SLR's around there, what i think did it was the huge ass flash (550EX) and the strap that said "CANON" None the less, it was amusing to me...so much as i'd actually laugh as it was happening.
In all reality it's annoying "hey man how much that thing cost" "you going to go into photography?"
All i can assure them is that i bought everything...thats all they need to know.
I can only imagine whats going to happen when i get 1 foot of white canon on the tip of my body

Going to go into photography? Already there, dude. I'm surprised you didn't get the infamous, "Man, I bet that camera takes great pictures." But, I'm sure you'll get that side of the ignorant-public when you show them the photos next week.

Timmy your tale reminds me of when my 17 year old was 6. The Indiana Pacers had just won a big game on the road. The radio was talking about them coming back that night. Since we live about 3-4 miles north of the airport, my son asked if we could go. I knew there would be a crowd so, I grabbed my camera, my vest and my AP luggage tag.
When we get there a crowd had already gathered. Tim and I walk along a taped off area only to be accosted by an airport security guard. I held up my luggage tag which was attached to my vest and she waved us on by. So there we are, my son and I standing in an area where Channels 13-8-6 and 59 camera men are, right by the door which the team will be coming out of.
Tim got to meet some of the Pacers, and I faked a few shots of them greeting the crowd. I say faked because there was NO FILM IN THE CAMERA!!!
Never underestimate the power of a luggage tag.
