Just wanted to know what some of the basic post processing steps to do to improve qaulity. Still trying to learn the photo shop.
Thanks

You might want to try searching for "workflow." There are a huge number of possible answers to that question. If there are any specific quality issues you're trying to improve, mentioning those would probably get you a better response. Posting samples and asking for suggestions on improving the results also works well.

The two main basic things is levels adjustments and a bit of sharpening.

Yup...without details, Kevins answer is mine too.

Mostly sharpening, and sometimes noise reduction. A little cloning, if there are dust spots, and maybe some dodge and burn. If it's a black and white, obviously, there is the conversion that usually involves a channel mixer adjustment.

Thanks for the input. I just know that the pics I see have so much color and sharpness which was just answered with levels and some usm. Pictures I have on average just dont seem to really pop like I want them to. Granted there is a learning curve of mine I deal with, I am just trying to get ideas what to work on in my pp.
Thanks

There is a good series of "How To Make Your Pictures Pop" on TLR: http://www.thelightsrightstudio.com/tutorials-pdf.htm. Also, take a look at Ron Bigelow's site: http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/articles.htm.

I usually tinker with levels and curves, boost saturation if needed and apply some sharpening for my quick fixes.

I'm just starting to actually have a 'workflow,' but I pretty much agree with the others - levels (or curves), increase saturation often, then sharpen.
