He more than sort of lied to you. The basic lens on the A60 is fixed; you can't take it off. There are auxiliary lenses which mount to an adapter that fits over that lens which will let you get wider or longer effects. Canon has some, listed in the back of your A60 Owners Manual, and Lensmate also makes some reliable ones. But they still will not be as good as having a lens designed from the outset to do the wide or telephoto work they try.

i really like my a60 but i want to get something a little more "pro" .... i'd love to get an slr but the price and size kinda turns me off.... any compacts that let you change lenses, or something with internal options (if thats even possible)? :) or is that only possible on slrs?

The only digital cameras allowing you to change lenses are the DSLRs or extremely expensive rangefinders from Leica until you get into the (even more expensive) realm of view cameras (the ones you always see the photographer ducking under a black cloth to use from the tripod). As I said, you can get some attachment lenses while you save for the DSLR. Or a number of newer cameras have longer zoom ranges than your A60 does.
