IF AND WHEN... A new MarkII 1Dn comes out...

Im trying to figure out if I want to wait or not... to see if canon comes out with a new version of this camera..

BUT, with COST in mind... would you say that the new version of this camera is going to be a LOT more expencive than the current model?

Or would the difference be like $500 ish or more like $1000?

Same with the 5D, figure I can get double rebaits on that, and if a new model comes out, what is one to do if the price is WAY more...

Just trying to get some insight.

Yes, the price is always higher when the models first come out. If you are really looking at a MKII, because you want a 1 series, you can get them used for prices where the 5D would be placed at (using rebates).

Well, who knows? Rumors say that a new 1D MkIII is probably going in the way for around 3.000 € or higher, the actual price of the 5D in Europe. Market is pushing down prices with the new aggressive campaign from Noink & Sony. And Canon has to set up who is the leader in some markets. Actually is loosing in the intermediate market from the point of view of the characteristics/price. The introduction of new models makes a drop down of the prices in the older models, so may be the 5D will be accessible ...

Wait and see; it´s only a question of a month or so.

many anticipate the new 1D series camera may merge the 1Ds and 1D lines together, much like a Nikon D2X. I really doubt a new 1Ds replacement would be less than 6-8k$ as the 1Ds and 1DsmkII were both introduced for 8k$. I paid $4500 for the 1DmkII 3 years ago. If the 1D series were not to merge, I don't see a new model being introduced at a bargin price

Keep in mind that the Mark IIN was $4000 when it came out, and Canon did say in their whitepaper that it was $500 cheaper than the MkII. So maybe with improving production techniques and competition, it may be under $4000...
