i've decided that i have enough lenses to meet my needs, and i was thinking about the lensbabies.
i know there's 3 version: 1st - f/2.8, 2nd - f/2.0, 3rd - with the lock thingy.
would anyone tell me the difference between the 2 and 3G versions? and also, whether there is any variation that is better?

The only caveat I have about the 3G is the screw things on the side made it more suseptible to damage. Well that and raise the price significantly. They do make it easier to work with.

Of the 3 versions...the 3G is easiest to set and maintain focus with. So far it gets my vote for fun toy of the month!

The LB 1.0 had no optical coating, the 2.0 had optical coating for less flare and CA (I guess), the 3G has all theses screws so that a focus and the sweet spot of area in focus can be locked in. The 3G costs significantly more now. If you are looking at the 3G, I'd pay a bit more and get a real tilt shift made in Russia for sale on Kievcamera and on ebay as well.

is it so hard to use without the screws?

Nah, if you use screws, I'd recommend using a tripod as the focus is locked at a specific point and you have to rescrew everything if you move a touch or recompose.
It takes a little practice to focus and move the area of focus around but it's not too hard.
Goto their website and see their demo on how to use the lens.
