Around 12am i was working on my pc and heard a bunch of Long Beach Police cars booking down the street. The sirens turned off fairly close to my door, so i grabbed the camera with the 28-135 IS and went out. The speed limit is 35 in downtown. No way in hell this truck was doing speed limit. 2 dead, possibly a 3rd. Its a chevy truck. A Toyota 4 Runner was involved, but it didnt take any damage. I dont know what happened but ill find out in the morning because my photos will be alll over the news.

eep not good, im surprised they let you take photos, i know here with a fatality (from what i have seen) they would stop you.

I was asked to stay out of the taped off area, but anything is fair game down here if you dont interfere with police activity. My photos are on the front page of the Long Beach Press Telegram http://www.presstelegram.com

I really could have used the 20/30d FPS and a 70-200 2.8 IS tonight. Its time to invest....

They must have been moving pretty fast.

Ouch, they must have crashed very hard ... considering a truck is pretty solid..

Suspected drunk driving. The 3rd guy i saw go off in the ambulance is alive.

Woah! Definitely going over 30mph!

Was the driver young? (if you got to see that, under the circumstances)

Just out of curiosity... and if you care to share... did you receive any financial compensation?

I see you got proper credit and a 9 shot slideshow. :) Congrats. Are you a regular photographer for them? and as was asked, did you recieve compensation for the shots?

Already asked twice, so I'm also curious. Let's just say one of us happen to be at the right place and the right time to document such an event (hopefully not as tragic as this one, but newsworthy).

Would you be so kind to guide us non-pro photographers to the process of getting it to the proper news media?....and not be taken advantage of (compensation).

Thanks, I'm sure others are in the same boat. :)
