I really enjoy taking macro shots, and I've been considering the Hoya lenses that Lensmate sells. Anyone have these or have a better suggestion? Comments on this shot are appreciated too!

I have a Hoya +10 diopter. I think it's very effective. You can focus so close to a subject, that you can literally put the lens on the subject. DOF is greatly decreased, but if you have enough light, and shoot in manual, you can just stop down the aperture to get most of it back.

I like your shot. My only peeve is that the DOF goes back to front, instead of front to back, because the watch is on an angle, and the main focus is on the top most portion.. the part which is further away. This may not be a bad thing however, because the light is stronger at the top. If it were the other way around though, the sharply focused bit would be in a shadow. Just needs a little more DOF in my opinion.

Overall, I like it. Now try doing a slow one to catch movement of the second hand. It's been done to death, but it's still a cool looking shot :D

I've got about 15 copies of this same shot with the hand in motion!
