Hello,
after some months lurking here in this great forum is it now time to join the club, if you all let me in of course :?:
I shoot mainly nature pictures and became recently a converted L-disciple... Something to do with this forum? So now already in my bag the 17-40 and the 100-400 with my new 10D. I have upgraded from the D30 last week.
 Now saving for the 50mm 1.8.
I suppose that pictures tell you more than words, so I include some pics that were made with the 10D.
The goose is photographed this morning in an region here in the Netherlands that is called "de Oostvaardesplassen" and the sunset is from one of our very Dutch mountains: "de Liesberg" and was taken last week.

You have L? Two of them? Of course we'll let you in, then. :)
Welcome, and nice shots!

Love the sunset shot. I'm a big fan of silhouette. The trees make a great subject for that gorgeous background.
Welcome to pending poverty. :-)

 This is why I have posted here, some general chat don't hurt that much, does it? I really don't have the guts yet to enter that large money draining place! Perhaps when I have sold the house...
Everybody thanks for all the kind words and warnings, I will need all the support I can get, to keep up with all of you.

Really glad to have you onboard. AT LAST! Someone who doesn't post pictures of ducks.
Looks like you'll fit right in anyway.

Welcome to our disfunctional family Gerard. Enjoy your stay.
Beware of IanD... he'll get animals to moon you. He claims he's now been reformed, but I say watch your back. I'm sure he does.

all that welcome words are demanding new pictures to display, but I have looked through my collection of ducks; they look all normal
so I suppose I will have to wait until I have achieved the same skills as the more experienced people who are posting here... yes I know, I probably will be practicing for years to come, but as I already sold the house to buy enough L-lenses to enter the Eos forum some day, this is all what is left for me to do
:D needless to say that I’m already feel quite at home here

Scottes I did a huge discovery this early morning. I went to my favorite lookout for my geese and duck shots to aim my 10D with the 100-400 attached once more at these beautiful animals to show you that at least here in The Netherlands everything is alright with those birds.
But....
I couldn't find any duck or geese in the water although I caught some ducks in the air.

I was rather upset with this discovery and soon realised that is had something to do with the cormorants who were flying everywhere. So for now I cannot give you the garantee that everything is ok, but I know that someday soon I will be able to do it. Now even the geese are trying to escape the wild and fast cormorants...

Perhaps something to do with the spring coming soon... :?:

That last image is just awesome. Great capture.
Now I know that you've been duly warned about IanD but I had the opportunity to meet him this weekend and he even took me to his favorite duck shooting spot. He really is a nice guy but I guess we all have our own little private nuances.... he get's excited by creatures of the webbed feet variety.
He is one with the duck.
