Just curious how many Chicago members we had around here.. I know I've seen at least one other city dweller! Maybe we can organize a get together when the weather gets warmer.. Lincoln Park Zoo, or Millenium Park, etc..!? Any takers?

Every time I see a POTN member location within a few hours of Chicago, I add him/her to my buddy list. Last summer there was a few dozen people on the list, which was handy for inviting everyone to the first annual POTN invasion of the Bristol Renaissance Faire (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=200368) last August. I think we had around 8 or 10 people attend.
Now I think there is over fifty people on the list. So if anyone wants to make the effort to organize a Chicago POTN event, I can help with a few PMs.
I would love to catch that big stainless steel bean, do the ferris wheel at Navy Pier, and probably catch the skyline from the Adler Planetarium.

Let's plan something for late March or early April when we'll have some good weather. Pick a Saturday and an alternate rain date.
So what day is good?
Where should we meet up? Navy Pier, Bean or by the planetarium?

Millennium Park would be a great place to meet up, it's a large central location with plenty of parking right there.

We could do the 17th with the green river and all, but it might be to crowded. The next date is April 7th .
So which is better for everyone; March 17th or April 7th?

I have about 90 people on my buddy list that are potentially withing driving distance. If someone (drparker) is willing to be the host and do a bit of planning, my general recommendation is pick a date with a few months notice so we have time to promote it, start a new thread, and let's see how many we can get. Personally, I would rather wait until the weather is a bit warmer.
I also might suggest that a Sunday would be better than a Saturday for the wedding shooters, but it's really up to whomever steps up to the plate and does the leg work.
Edit: Jeff, we welcome Boilermaker fans, but Hoosier fans will be stopped at the state line. ;)

Curtis,
Good points. With the 50 degree shift in temps it's feeling like spring to me already:lol:
So do you think late April or Early May is a good time? I can start a poll with several dates as the choices and use that as the new thread.

April sounds better to me. We could still have a Blizzard in March.....or April. I just want to meet you guys so keep me posted. My schedule is pretty easy. Unless there is a major CFD Job which can not be planned for. I would put as many of you in my SUV that I could fit though.:D:p:lol:

A Sunday was mentioned as a good day to do it. And I know I'm getting into the details way too early, but regardless of what day it is, I think as many people who might be interested should plan to meet and maybe have dinner & drinks someplace the night before. I'll probably come up early and get a room somewhere, so I'll volunteer whatever hotel that ends up being.

I've started poll to pick the date and we can also do the planning in that thread.
