A few from today's Chester vs Mansfield game.
Interesting piece of news that I saw yesterday was that a freelance photographer was recently thrown out of a Mansfield game for displaying a protest notice on his laptop about the Owner/Chairman of Mansfield FC. He's since been charged and banned from all 92 league club grounds in the UK.
Techy bits.....all these were from the 1D with 300 2.8, all in manual, ISO800, with the first 4 @1/1000 and the next 2 at 1/500 and then the last one at 1/1000.
C&C welcome and thank you for looking!
Paul

Sounds harsh about that tog being banned from all league grounds.
Great shots Paul. What were the lighting conditions like at the game?
I'm hoping it wont be long before I have a 2.8 lens myself. Cant wait. ;)

Paul,
I read about the guy removed from the stadium as well. I had no idea he received a blanket ban though!!

Thank you - quite pleased with today's haul, limited cropping/PP etc needed meaning I'm now finished with all the stock shots too and shortly to have a well earned beer!!
Great shots Paul, can't wait till Tuesday got my 300F2.8 coming to go with my 1D:)
You will be happy as a pig in muck with that lens! Looking forward to seeing your results with that - should be very good :D

Lighting wasn't too bad, was getting 1/1000 @ 2.8 @ ISO800 at the start of the match and then was at 1/500 @2.8 @ ISO1600 by the end

Cheers Darren.
Regards the chap who was chucked out, thats the first time I had seen it on HTFP......another tog at the ground today was saying that he had or was about to be banned. Either way, after 45 minutes of sitting in front of the Mansfield fans, I got the impression they didn't like Haslam that much!!
Were you shooting today too?
1st shot, guy on the right cracks me up. lol
nice captures
Thank you - no idea what shape the chap on the right was trying to pull. Almost looks as if he was trying to surf in mid air!

I have just read that and I am totally stunned. Sounds way OTT when you think of what some footballers get away with on the pitch as well as what some fans get away with.

Not enough pix of the mighty Stags !!!!
Seriously, what happened at Field Mill was a tad petty if you ask me. But giving Haslam the bird' twice didn't help his cause.
We shall have to wait and see. I hope common sense preveils.
Nice pix Taul Paul I wanted to come up but was sent to Scunthorpe!!

Did you shoot the entire game manual Paul? I tried off and on but the sun was going in and out all day.
Anyway, my comments
#1 - Great thunkage :D
#2 - Great. The ball must have been shifting to blur even at 1/1000
#3 - My favourite of the set. Top job
#4 - Sportait with a ball, always a keeper
#5 - This does not look as sharp as the rest, maybe because of the noise? Still great action
#6 - Nice crop and action
#7 - Nice job
Well done Paul
The tog being banned does seem a bit extreme, but you have no idea what else 'may' have gone one. No one knows. Hopefully it will correct it's self.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Darren, #5 was a heavier crop than the other 6 pics, most of them were around full frame, so probably have come up a little sharper. Shot in manual for about 70-80 minutes of the game, the start had some really variable lighting indeed. Am going to look into getting a light meter at some point soon, as i'd like to perhaps be a little more scientific with the settings!
The tog being thrown out is an interesting one to follow. Hopefully it will have no implications on licensing and the like for the rest of us!!

Nice work Paul. Looks like you're getting a regular gig at Chester. With the play-offs not a million points away, could be an interesting end to the season.
As for the Mansfield incident, I doubt there will be wider repercussions. I recall that it was reported on Radio 5 Live on the day it happened (or soon after) and my gut reaction was that it was a local issue that had escalated. I'm sure it'll all come out in the wash one way or another.

Thanks Gavin, enjoying the regular outings there at the moment - hopefully might get a good run now up to the end of the season....fingers crossed!! If I do it will take care of a large chunk of the league licensing criteria for next season which would be a bonus too.
Playoffs are a possibility, however yesterday's draw was a criminal waste of 3 points....Mansfield had 10 players for about 80 minutes!!
Also Ipswich have nabbed Jon Walters this week too who was one of those players who made things happen in midfield for Chester, so will be interesting to see how things pan out now!

Nice work again mate. Once again the images are elevated by the standard of footy and having a stand dropped out at F2.8 can look much better than some rusty garage down the park!
Nice one.
