So i recently moved to San Francisco just about 2 months ago, so i've gone around shooting randomly a couple times. Here are a few from some that i took at a church (notre dame des victories for those who may be from the area). Let me know what you think. I'd like completely honest opinions, as i've just started school at the Academy of Art college, looking to become a professional photographer. Anyway, here they are:

So please, any kind of feed back would be greatly appreciated. THANKS! :D

Ps. shot with canon 10D and 28-135mm IS.

I like your shots Mike, all three. Offering critique here is difficult because of what it appears you are trying to do - the artistic bit. Techinically the pictures cut it, good exposure, focus, interesting detail.... I particularly enjoyed the third shot of the pillar. It has a slightly hypnotic quality that gives a sense of hieght without clearly defining where the viewer is... if that makes sense. I could imagine half a dozen or more of these shots framed together as a kind of essay....

Thanks for posting

Thanks Martin. As for "what i'm trying to do?" Basically just create an image which is pleasing to the eye. One that would attract attention, as opposed to your average snap shop of a church.

I do like the last one also. You'd be surprised to know that that's actually from the railing of a stair way, and not of a pillar. The depth of it kinda throws it off, which i really liked.

again, thanks!

I do not like the first one. The diagonal shot makes me unconfortable but that's just me. I like number 2 best with the beautiful blue sky.

I find the first one some kind of dizzy. I personnaly like the third - interesting combination of sharpness and softness. Dood job!

I like the third one the best - interesting perspective. The first one made me feel a little sea-sick - too many angles going on, felt like I was falling over. The second one is interesting, but the third one takes the cake.

wow, really? I was kinda just going for a different way to look at it on the first one, so that it's not so "normal," maybe i over did it. he he.

I think #2 is the winner, hands down. The bulding looks imposing, almost foreboding. The stained glass window suggests church, but the rest of the picture is almost gothic in the feeling it conveys. I can see an 8-year old looking up at this scene, and suddenly feeling very insignificant in the presence of the Almighty.

They're all very good, although #1 is a little 'artsy,' while #3 is not clear (no pun intended) as to what is trying to be conveyed.

Altogether, a very good job.

:D

I can't quite get used to the 1st one. I think it would have been dramatic straight on. Nice exposures.
