Hello:
The EOS 3, D60 and 10D do not have the infrared focusing light on the camera body. The 550 has the built-in infrared illuminator. How do I set these bodies to auto focus in very low light with the 550 attached? Will this work with the 550 attasched to the off-camera-shoe-cord?
Thanks!

You need to be in single shot mode and have all the AF squares turned on. It may work with just the centre AF focusing square selected but it won't if you have one of the other ones. Then the camera should AF in total darkness, assuming that you have the 550EX hooked up.

Thanks for the info. Just tried on single-shot. Works great.

Even though the room is totally dark, you can see some of the faint red light pattern that the 550EX puts out.

Yes, it will work with the flash on the OCSC-2. Not sure about the digital bodies, but on the Elan-7 you can set the flash to emit the AF assist light but not fire when the film is exposed, i.e., the flash only works as an AF assist.
